I purchased a pair of these from Amazon from their Warehouse Deals for about $85. My girlfriend ran over the headphone cord with a vacuum cleaner. Threw the mangled cord away and contacted Koss to purchase a new cord. They don't sell the cord. ( Ought to as an accessory, nice cord) they said to return the headphones, I told them that I threw away the cord. They just said to return the cans with a check for $9.00. I did that, didn't return the case. Two weeks later I received a brand-new pair in plain brown box packaging. So I ended up with two cases. These are a wonderfully comfortable pair of headphones that need at least 50 to 100 hours to break them in. They don't sound good at all until broken in properly. I truely love these phones, well made, comfortable and extremely great sounding. They sound awesome on my Schiit Valhalla 2 headphone amp, much better than being fed from the headphone jack on my HK3490 receiver.

Completely pointless video. They said they wanted to do a double-blind test, but it isn't even a regular blind test.

StrongdoctorIt's true that they could not do a double-blind test. If you trust the measures they took to try to prevent the tester from knowing ahead of time which headphone was which, I think it shows that at least in this case he really could tell the two apart, but I must concede that I can think of at least three alternate reasons for that other than "burn-in."

I just got my set today! first impression - These headphones are superb, if you know what you buy them for. I listen to a lot of concerts and instrumental music. I own two pairs of senheiser and one pair of AKG, and these ones are simply at the next level. When listening to instrumental music I hear sounds that I never heard in other headphones - fingers swiping strings or guitar pick touching deck. It is pure pleasure if you are into complete acoustic sound.! At the same time, mediocre pop music sounds even More obviously like mediocre pop music, headphones don't change that:)

That's exactly what I mean! It's almost ironic that headphones tell so bluntly who is who:) I listened to acoustic concert of Sting, and then to recording of Joan Baez, Diamonds &a Rust, recorded around 1980, and it was an amazing experience. Then I listen to some of the new releases, and they sound like a tin can:)

Compared to the Koss SP540: I thought the two would be very similar, variations on a single model, but they really aren't. I got the SP540s and was really disappointed. They sound fine to me, but the fit is terrible on my very large ears and they just feel physically cheap. These Koss Pro4s on the other hand, feel very nice to me. They are heavier, and while that is clearly not as good from a long-use comfort perspective, they just feel more rugged and "nicer." I like bass and I'll even admit to being a bit of a bass-head. These don't do the bass emphasis that the SP540 and SP330 do, but I think the bass on these is really quite adequate. I don't feel like these need more bass at all. Actually these produced some bass notes that were so full that they had me wondering if I somehow had the subwoofer playing. That's pretty special and not something I experienced with the "bass emphasized" SP540 and SP330. So if you love bass, consider that info carefully. I haven't even had them an hour yet, but so far the sound is very much to my liking. The frequency response seems relatively flat so they aren't "exiting" right away, but I get the feeling that will be an advantage with time, as I expect these to be better for a variety of music styles, rather than just the one style of pop music to which the equalizations of trendy listening headphones lend themselves. These still don't go all the way around my ear the way the better Sennheiser over-ear models do, but they fit on the outer edge of my ear and are quite comfortable so far. The sound isolation on these is very nice. I really feel that these are a whole step, or maybe even two steps, better than the SP540. For anyone who happens to find this review and is trying to decide between the two seemingly similar models, I think I would sum up the two new Koss over-ear offerings of 2014 as follows: Koss Pro4s: ruggedly built, pro style, frequency response curve for critical but enjoyable listening, excellent isolation, medium over-ear cups for medium large sized ears but suitable as on-ear headphones for very large ears Koss SP540: light weight, attractive, frequency response curve for fun listening, very good isolation, small over-ear cups for medium sized ears and smaller 2022 - I am still using these regularly and I like them more today than when I first got them. I think they're really well made and the sound quality is so good that you start to appreciate how detailed and balanced they are the longer you use them.

AnnndyThanks. I’ve just ordered a set of Pro4S and found a set of 540s for cheap. I had ordered them but your review just persuaded me to cancel the order, they don’t sound like a better alternative to the Pro4S much at all

I need a portable headphone that can isolate well. It’s either these pair or the SP330 both from Koss. Anyone can comment on the sound isolation of the SP330?

Thanks for the comparison! It’s too bad I can’t audition them. Originally I was looking at the HD 25-ii. It has great isolation bur also cost more.

BuckbrickI just got these Koss Pro4s and I really like them. I also have the SP330, and while I like them, the Sennheiser HD25-1 II is a very big step up in my opinion. I have a bunch of headphones and I can honestly say that the HD25-1 II are my favorite for almost all purposes. I really love the sound of the HD25-1 II most, but the durability and ability to put them on in a way that feels secure and comfortable to me are unmatched by anything else. I do like the SP330 too, and I like the way they sound, but there is no comparison with the HD25-1 II in my opinion. Now it seems you can get HD25 Pro for about $150. I don't know if there is any difference between those and the original model, but they look absolutely identical. I know that's a lot more than this, but if you really are interested I urge you to splurge. I think you'll be glad you did.

MD price for this is better than a few years ago which is not surprising. For anyone interested, definitely worth getting, especially if one likes the Koss sound though I would suggest changing out the pads more for comfort than anything else as stock pads aren't the most comfortable for most. Otherwise sound scales well with good accuracy across the spectrum. After all, they are good cans made for monitoring.

How these compare to the beyerdinamic dt770's , if anyone knows. Or with let'say the m50x or someother better known things ? Thanks, in case someone answers ☺
For me, the DT770 would be my first choice of the pair for sound profile. They run a very satisfying, if a bit wild, mix of clean extended bass and sparkly, bright highs - very impressive for a closed back of its price point and age. If you can work with the larger size and the extra cost, I'd definitely recommend them.

GiantHeadphoneSquidCool, i already got them, the dt770 32 ohm. I was contemplating at these koss, but people keep saying they have no sound stage so I guess I'll skip them. It seems this design, with flat cups like m50x and these leaves no room for soundstage.

I've tried these a few times. Good overall sound, light weight, look good, nice case. That's it. They have fantastic low sub bass extension BUT playing anything with a decent amount of bass or more will make that distort horribly. The low mids are kind of thinner so it gives them an odd sound similar to what is wrong with the Sennheiser HD380. The ear pads are also too shallow. Not quite worth it for me.

Flat. Any EDM or Hip Hop song with the normal bass you expect from them will distort on these at anything but low volume. Normal listening levels with lots of subs and low 808 drops and booms, forget about it. Too distorted.

MarkUpThese have rave reviews for most genres. Still debating getting on this drop. I recently picked up the koss ksc75 while it's not gonna thump your head I am quite impressed with them especially for $15.

I received mine with right ear channel cutting in and out as you move your head. Sound quality and isolation are good. Looking to use these to carry around but because of the right ear cutting in and out its not suitable for me. Now I have to see about exchange or return and that will probable Mass Mess I am not looking forward to.
Update: Sorry for the delay was going through Cancer treatment took a lot out of me. I want to let everyone know this was happening on both right and left input jacks. I have voided the warranty by opening them up and found poorly soldered connections on both jacks. I was able to make the repair and they are working fine now.

DaddyDiBsI'd bet Koss will still honor the warranty. They have the best warranty in the business and I've never had any issues with repairs replacement even when I caused the damage.

OCBobI as mentioned earlier I repaired the headset. I eventually gave them to my 15 year old nephew...in less than two days he had them torn to pieces. Kids these days do not value anything except their gaming console. Sad but true.

Sound quality is phenomenal and the isolation is astounding. I'm sitting in a crowded college cafeteria and I can hardly hear a thing around me, and this is with my laptop at 30% volume. Nothing anywhere close to loud.

Took advantage of this at $99.00 and thought it a fantastic deal. Whisker clean response and reasonably well made. Excellent mids and treble with an accurate bottom end (not exaggerated). Guys and gals... a no brainer.

achristilawMaking me interested! I am looking for a comfortable pair that will accompany me on a traveling trip. Currently, I have a Sennheiser HD8 DJ that was going to fit the bill, but the pressure is just a bit much on my head.
