A long torch for lighting fires at a safe distance, the Kovea Phantom comes in handy when you need to get a campfire going, light a barbecue grill or fire pit, fumigate gardening soil, and more. It features a one-touch Piezo ignition and an adjustable flame control knob, and is compatible with isobutane screw-type and butane gas canisters Read More
Interesting. Great for really big campfires I guess where one needs to reach in to multiple spots in the wood pile.
Might be nice for clearing poison oak from some camp sites too. :) (uh, when there's really low fire danger)

hikin_jimI read burning poison oak just gets the oil urushiol in your lungs, on your face and basically everywhere the smoke touches. I do think this torch would be a great anti spider and other small alien flame thrower.
I modded my torch to take a coleman propane tank using a LPG adapter. This produces a more stable and powerful flame. I found that camping gas canisters don't last very long and can be very sensitive to tilting that was making downwards operation a bit tricky.

Yes, Kovea offers a 2 year warranty on all products purchased. We do not offer warranties on products purchased from outside the US, you can tell because these products would not be in English packaging or have English instruction manuals.

I received my torch yesterday and I'm very pleased with my impulse purchase. This thing is a beast, the sound it makes at full blast is awesome! No BBQ is safe this summer.
Couple of New Zealanders on YouTube use this thing to singe the hair and first layer of epidermis from a hog they hunted In prep for a roast. It's interesting but graphic.
Hey everyone - I used this torch a lot over the weekend on a group camping trip where we cooked all our meals over open fires. I have to say that it seemed a little silly/unnecessary, but it saved us a LOT of time starting all the cooking and camp fires without the usual routine of gathering paper/cardboard/tinder - you still have to build a good fire, but starting it is a LOT faster this way. Here are shots at 0, 10, 20, and 30 seconds (will try for a video, don't have it on YouTube/Vimeo yet):
Received mine today. At first I was terrified and thrilled seeing the four foot long box mass drop shipped in. Luckily it's not built quite to that scale. I fired it up with a half empty fuel canister and it's impressive. The flame isn't quite as jet-like as my inner-pyromaniac had hoped (he's the guy who made this impulse purchase), but it is large, blue, and hot as hell. I look forward to finding a practical application, hopefully before I have to buy new fuel canisters.
