Product Description
Instead of a single cheap tube that gives off muddled sound, the Little Dot MKIII features four tubes: two dedicated input tubes and two dedicated output tubes. Letting your left and right audio channels enter through separate RCA ports and pass through channel specific input and output tubes before joining up at the headphone jack, you get a clear signal on both sides with little to no crossover Read More

the MKIII SE is a hybrid amp (an OTL amp would not work with low impedance headphones well)

What does it take to convert a 220 VAC version to 120 VAC? Is it a different transformer or just changing the leads on the transformer? (I will be moving from Europe in the next two years.)

Sorry, I would recommend against transforming as it ads substantial distortion which negates the meaning of buying amps like this.

Is the point of Drop not to decrease prices due to bulk purchase? By the time I add taxes this will be more expensive than Amazon.

That will be true for anything you import - not just drop. List price om Amazon is 278. Last time I checked 200 is < 278.

Ordered one and now deciding which DAC. Currently using HD 6XX and a iFi nano idsd nano. Stick with current iFi as DAC? Would the topping 50s current drop sound better enough to justify the cost (don’t really need the Bluetooth)? Am I overthinking DAC quality for a tube amp? Thanks!

You’re probably over thinking it, wait until you get the amp then if you feel you need a DAC get one.

Thanks for your reply. I ended up getting a Topping D30 and am very happy with it. There has been no discernible increase in noise by going with a plugged in DAC vs the iFi which was run on battery. I'm very satisfied with both pieces of gear! Thanks again.

If I didn't already have the Mkii I'd be on this for the little extra power, but I'm happy with what I have.

Mine already came in - sheesh! Props to Massdrop for getting these out quick. Initial impressions with no burn-in are positive. I've got no noise on either channel - everything sounds great! 5-day edit: Pulled the tubes to take a closer look at them and clean up some dust/fingerprints, only to realize that my amp came with GE JAN-5654W driver tubes instead of the listed GE 5654 ones - NICE! Now this is my first tube amp so I'm hardly an expert, but from what I've read the JAN-5654W's are a considerable step up over the regular 5654's. Maybe that's why I didn't experience any of the popping or hiss that some folks have complained about? Anywho, I've already got some tubes coming in to do a bit of rolling: Voshkod 6ZH1P-EV and Hytron JHY-6AK5 driver tubes, as well as Novosibirsk 6H6P-I power tubes. The Hytron's actually came in today, and the initial impressions are very positive: the JAN-5654W's sounded a little bit incoherent and muddy in the bass department, but these Hytron's seem much tighter there. They also seem to be crisper and clearer overall. It'll be interesting to see how they sound after a little bit of burn-in, ditto with the GE's. So far, I'm loving this amp!

Any tube recommendation for it to have a stronger bass, clean intimate mid rage and slightly peaked highs ? I don't wanna spend so much on the tubes yet since it will be my 1st tube purchase
