Pen lights are favored in the EDC community for their slim profile and versatility. But they’re typically no standout from the crowd with the standard aircraft-grade aluminum construction Read More
The details section here say the Nichia model has a max output of 200 lumens and 900cd.
I just got mine yesterday and the box says the Cree model has 200 lumens and 900cd while the Nichia model (the one sold here) is only max 145 lumens and 506cd. I'm sure it was an honest mistake by whoever typed in the details but it is false advertisement.
Every drop I sign up for has an unexpected delay. Whenever these two finally ship I’m done. Prices aren’t any real savings most the time l. Disappointed with performance drop....
It seems disingenuous to have the title tout the titanium version with that fantastic price right under, only to discover that it is actually an additional $20. I realize you may have recycled the description, as you have for many drops recently, but you really need to stop doing that as well. It is very annoying to find options in the description or accessories included in the description not available or included in the drop.
Seriously, stop. There are not hundreds of drops going up every day. Take a minute to get it right. Your community will appreciate it.
ponagathosTotally agree. The title is completely deceptive. This looks exactly like they are selling the Titanium version for $24.99. It should just say Lumintop Pen Light.
Massdrop won't let me leave a review for some reason, so I cant 3 star rate this.
Ive had the brass version for at least a year. I used to carry it everywhere for about 3 months and haven't used it since. The light flickers constantly and im always fidgeting with the body of the light to make sure its tight but that doesn't always seem to be the issue. The finish was beautiful, when the light isn't flickering it is very bright, its small so it takes up very little pocket real estate and its so light you barely know its there. Overall I would never buy this again since its just the same old struggle I've had with any cheap flashlight... the flickering! It looks pretty but not reliable.
RATS! Only Cree for the Brass model?
Still, at this price, I'm tempted to pick up the Brass one just so I'll have replacement parts for the Titanium and Black ones if/when they start acting up.
Hi, I recieved my flashlights and am curious, one light came in a very nice QUALITY plastic and the two others were just laying in the box, with nothing wrapped around them. Is that normal? ..It MADE me feel these were returned and then given them back to me. I hope not. Can anyone answer if theirs were wrapped in plastic? Thanks Barry
I just got the brass version of this one somewhere else other than MD, and I have to say that so far it's been close to great, but a bit of a mixed bag:
1. It's hefty and seems to be well made. Nicely finished.
2. 3 light levels are well chosen, and high is definitely very bright
3. I got the LED with the warmer tint, and I have to say that it may not be as bright as the cool white, but it's very nice! Very easy on the eyes and a warmer colored light.
4. Doesn't tail stand
5. Clicky is a bit wobbly, but not objectionable. It is also a nice chrome metal
6. It seems the lens reflector glows a feint green for some time after it's been turned off
7. Batteries rattle around a bit inside tube... which may be the cause of the main caveat...
8. At least on mine, if you shake the light or even if it slips in your hand abruptly, the light level automatically changes! It'll toggle onto high all by itself if I point it up or in a different direction. I think it's because the batteries shift inside and when they momentarily lose contact, it thinks it got a tail switch command to change light settings. At one point, I could wave the thing around and get it to toggle through all 3 light settings without ever touching the tailswitch. Not good. I tugged at the rear spring in the rear cap to get it to keep more tension on the batteries and that seemed to help, but I still can't get this thing to stop doing it completely. A huge caveat for what is otherwise a nice light.
DaveinSMBTW, the battery rattling problem is with Eneloops. The nicads that it came with admittedly did seem to rattle less and did not seem to have the same problem. But still... really?
DaveinSMStrangely, it does tail stand now, though not super stably. I think it's taken some time to settle in, but this is a cool light, especially for the price. It's definitely a bit heftier in weight than a similar aluminium model would be, though.
