Do IEMs need a proper setup of DACs &/or AMPs &/or DAPs to perform properly? My $40 pair of Beyerdynamic DTX 102 iE Earphones is outperforming these headphones...
The highs are ear-piercing, there's hardly any bass (probably because I can't play them loud enough without giving myself tinnitus due to the highs...) and the sound comes and goes if you move the jack around at all...
I'm so disappointed that these $140 headphones are doing this poorly. I couldn't even get a functioning cable?
SinehmaticAs with many other reviewers online, I found that the tips that come with these do not fit particularly well, causing the lack of balance you describe. However, once you manage to get a good seal, they actually sound pretty good, not amazing, but certainly decent value for $140.
As for the problem with them cutting out whenever you move the jack, that is typical of anything using MMCX connectors. Try using tweezers or a toothpick to push the pin slightly to the side to get a more consistent connection.

I've had my black A3S's for over a week now and feel pretty confident in giving them a quick review: These are some of the worst-sounding headphones I've ever heard touted as "HiFi". It's not an issue of materials or construction - they look just as good in person, and the cable is really flexible and free from microphonic effects. But the sound is fatiguing and artificial. They give me a headache and it's not due to the awkward fit. The highs are too pronounced and the lows, though plenty loud, sound like a subwoofer coated in maple syrup. I listen to a number of genres and have favorite headphones for each. These are pretty much awful at everything. I'm still 100% satisfied with massdrop, especially after scoring a pair of amazing HEM-8's in the NuForce grab bag (seriously, they sound fantastic, even for hip-hop/electronic). But since folks like Skullbunny were asking about the A3s, no they really aren't any good.
be-sieCame to see how people like them because mine are really disappointing... My almost 1-year-old pair of Beyerdynamic DTX 102 iE Earphones that are supposedly of trash build quality (a lot of people are having problems with earbuds conking out, jacks breaking, etc.) are outperforming them.
What are you running them off of because I can't get any bass without giving myself immediate-onset tinnitus due to the ear piercing highs... I'm only plugging them into my PC and LG G3 phone but they shouldnt need an expensive setup to outperform a $40 pair of in-ear headphones, I would imagine.
Do these headphones not work well if they're not powered well or used with a proper setup of DACs &/or AMPs &/or DAPs?

OK so the drop says it's for the LZ-A3 then the note about checkout says the black version is LZ-A3s and the pictures show the LZ-A3s in black. Then after joining the drop and selecting the black version the picture there shows the LZ-A3 in black. So what the hell are they?
