I was a huge fan of SoundMagic like probably half a decade ago, back when chi-fi wasn't as advanced as it is now. They've pretty much been made obsolete with today's options (stuff like Tin T2) but this mystery box is imo still reasonably priced. They're still good for giving away as gifts if you already own better IEMs, especially if you get the E10. 3.5/5 (rounded to 4 because I got the E10)
I got the cheapest ones, the black MP-21s.
Cons: The sound quality is quite underwhelming. They seem cheaply made, probably wouldn’t last long if they got a bit stretched by rolling around at night.
Pros: Extremely lightweight, and fantastic sound isolation. A perfect substitute for foam earplugs on a loud night, and they can play music or a podcast. The material doesn’t feel too bad either.
Having great luck with the last $12 blue box, I thought these would be even better. I was sorely mistaken.
The build quality of the ear tips, cable, mic and connectors are unfortunately very bad. These IEM's run high in the mid range and clip easily, the mids are not very present and the bass is better than I expected. If you are looking for a pair of IEM'S that you don't mind breaking, losing or giving to your kids then these are a good fit for those scenarios. Highly disappointed with this Drop.
I got the ES20 and have been listening to it for a little bit. To jump to the chase, these have their impressive qualities but I don't expect to be using them at all.
Here's what I found to be great: The build quality is excellent at this price range. The ES20 is made from metal and plastic which feels clean, premium and sturdy. They also are very comfortable in my ear. A+ considering the price of these.
With that out of the way, everything else was terrible. Some may find the bass's deep punchiness an advantage but, as far as I can tell, all the bass does is overwhelm the already muddy highs and mids. For me, this bothers me and even kills the enjoyment of listening to songs. I did not have high expectations going in, since these are cheap IEMs after all, and was still very disappointed. Save your money for other products in this price range.
I got the E10M. Very ergonomic in terms of size. The sound is a bit towards warm. It's good, but not great. For about the same price range, I prefer Radius NEF-11 or NEF-21 or Phillips TX-2.
