Does anyone know what type of Polish was provided by Fostex when the marked cup issue occurred? Also Looking for suggestions to get rid of surface scratches
matp86I don't know what original polish was they sent with the kits. but I've used Meguiar's Swirl Remover, which is a automotive buffing compound. My cups had lots of little micro scratches, I used a lint free microfiber polishing cloth. That should get the finish looking clear again.
I then tried using a hand drill buffing attachment. And it actually made the cups more glossy than the original finish. I'd just be careful with over buffing, especially with powertools, cause you can easily buff through the clear coat.
I really hope these come back in stock. Right now I have a pair of HD 58X's but I'd love something more closed for days when I need some separation from the outside world
If they don't come back, I reckon they will go down as the one of the most underrated headphones ever.
Amazing Headphone and bass rumble. Pairs up so well with my D50s and THX-789.
Not too harsh, perfect for Hip Hop and EDM.
Love mine.
Does anyone know what kind of polish and cloth is needed for the early version of these? I never got the original polish kit and over time the clearcoat has gotten cloudier and cloudier. Polish should clear it up but I don't want to just go to home depot and grab something off the shelf that isn't the right product.
ktymeI realize I'm responding to this late, but if you're still interest. I've used Meguiar's Swirl Remover, which is a automotive buffing compound. My cups weren't particularly cloudy, but it had lots of little micro scratches, so the swirl removed worked for my case. For the cloth, I just used a lint free microfiber polishing cloth. That should get the finish looking clear again.
I then tried using a hand drill buffing attachment. And it actually made the cups more glossy than the original finish. I'd just be careful with over buffing, especially with powertools, cause you can easily buff through the clear coat.
I have a pair of TH-X00 PH and a pair of Fostex TH-610 - they're close enough you'll be VERY happy with either. The TH-610 are slightly more polite on interactions between bass and mids.
ZedPottsBut they still remain the headphones I can simply turn my amp up ALL THE WAY without them harshing my ears with treble screams or clipping in the drivers, I've gotten noise complaints in apartments from both headphones. (I like my music on my head loud.)
