After the first shipment of the Ferrum Forge Falcon, we received tons of positive feedback—but there was one thing that could be improved. Based on member feedback that the original pocket clip was too easily bent out of shape, we went back to the drawing board Read More
People are complaining because these are not free. Really? If your old clip broke massdrop would replace it. Just fill out a support ticket. I have a falcon from the 1st production run and carry it regularly and have not had any problems at all. Personally I'm thankful for the $10 credit for this and appreciate massdrop providing it and all the awesome collaborations. I'm getting a black one because that's the only color I can't anodize myself. Thanks MD.
Is this a joke? Many reputable knife companies will send replacement parts free of charge, even when only needed because they've been broken or abused by the owner.
But here's a knife with a faulty design, and we're expected to buy a more durable clip that this knife should have come with from the start.
Mine bent just from hooking and unhooking it from my jeans pocket everyday. I didn't report it but it certainly has been frustrating. I was never reckless or abusive with it. I just used it a normal amount.
I am not sure why you feel the need to attack other customers and white knight for Massdrop.
Hey everyone,
The Ferrum Forge Falcon, released in April 2017, was our first ever knife collaboration, and remains the best-selling collab model to date. The only consistent feedback we got about how it could be improved was from members who bent or broke their pocket clips within a few weeks of receiving their knives.
It is generally accepted in the cutlery industry and knife community that pocket clips are 'wear-and-tear' items which are subject to stresses from being carried and can get caught on clothes, bags, seatbelts, door frames, etc., and in fact that's not always bad - it's almost always better to bend a clip than rip your pants, or damage whatever it catches on.
However, we heard this from enough people who submitted support requests (about 50 members) that we agreed it should be addressed and could probably be improved. So, based on this community feedback about the original design of the pocket clip on the first Ferrum Forge Falcon and Crux models that were released, we worked with Elliot Williamson on a revised design that is less prone to deformation. The revised (V2) clips have already been put into production for all FFKW designs with milled titanium clips that are manufactured after the improvement was made - this includes the Falcon, Crux, Buc, and Dao - which all have the same clip.
Much of the time, bent clips can just be removed, bent back into
place, and reinstalled. But sometimes they are too damaged to be restored, so we wanted to make replacements available to the community. And, since we've launched a number of different finishes on FFKW designs since the first gray Falcon, we're offering the clip in all three of the matching finishes as well: black, blue, bronze in addition to gray.
Thanks for letting us know this was an issue so that we could work to make these knives even better, and for your patience as we figured out the best way to make them available to members.

JonasHeinemanI just added this post:
I bought black because that was the only option. I'd rather have something on hand in case my clip bent/broke even if it's not a color that would be my first, second or third choice. I'm not sure why they ran out considering the historical data they have on these knives and the likelihood that people would buy two. A quick survey would pretty much give them a clue.
Hopefully, for those of us who got a clip in a color not of our choosing, they will offer a discount if/when these are available again.
If you have the time, contact Massdrop and let them know. They do read these boards.
I hope you do another run and let those of us, who ordered a color that wasn't in their top 3 choices, order another clip in the color of our choice at a discount.
Thanks,
Tom
No the clips were not “fine to begin with”. In their own words the “original clips bent easily”. I paid a premium price for a premium product. Now you tell me you can offer me something better than the original that was poorly engineered if I will pay for it and you are offering me a $10.00 coupon to cushion the blow or to use as subterfuge. Massdrop used to be a place that I could trust (emphasis on trust) to have the best quality at the best price and if it wasn’t they would make it right. I have spent thousands of dollars here, but with this charade, Massdrop just lost a good customer.
Thanks for posting your thoughts. One thing I would like to point out is that while I did say I had spent thousands of $$$ here, I didn’t say that each experience had been as consistent or as good as they could have been. There had been a slow but steady decline in service and product/price advantage here for the past year or longer. Massdrop billed the Falcon as a premium product and it is proving to be less than that. This is just the icing on the cake for me.
JohnnyVLooks like 6 mm O.C. from eyeballing (with a tape, just not dial calipers ;) ) the screws on my Buc, with which this clip is compatible. Coulda used this drop when I snapped that clip - but there was a drop instead for a deep carry clip from WEKnife, which I jumped on. Wish that one'd come back around - I'd already bent the new one once and fixed it....and then bent it again a week ago. I'm a little afraid to cold work it much more lest it snap for good. TBH, I like the lowrider more. But this drop looks like they put a little more thought into it for what is obviously an every. day. carry. community - you know who you are. Can't get dressed without putting something edged in a pocket or purse, murse or belt loop...
So I won't necro-thread comment, the screws can be found thru any knife making supply company - or anywhere, really, what with the interwebz and all. I think they are 4-32 x 4mm, with the caveat that it's a semi-educated guess, so....grain-o-salt.
Great -- trust MD not to order enough of the standard gray clips.

I got an email offering $10 off at checkout because I was in on the original Falcon drop. That discount doesn’t seem to have been applied. Can you confirm the price for me?
BeardySame issue here. The discount was not applied in the cart and it directed me to authorize a $14.99 purchase through PayPal.
Edit: cancelling and reordering fixed the issue.
I guess I'm late to the party. Blue and gray both sold out. Will these run again, and will discounts still apply for people who didn't make the cut this time?
I don't really understand why there's a limited number of these. If you plan to continue making and selling these FF/Massdrop knives then you'll need a continuous stream of clips to go with them. The supply of clips is whatever you want it to be. So just take as many clip orders as you can get. Massdrop, you guys do a really bad job communicating limited-quantities to your customers!
