I've only recently received these, and haven't had much time to try them out, but based on my initial experience with them and comparing them to other socks, I give them 4 stars. I was initially upset and confused when I opened them, thinking maybe I'd been sent or even accidentally ordered the wrong size and/or women's socks because they're so small. I even measured them to see if they truly are as tall (hell to cuff) as they're supposed to be, which they mostly are (I say mostly because I have to measure them just right for them to be the stated length, and even then they seem maybe half an inch short, so it's hard to say since I don't know how they measure them, and also they're ~10" high when wearing them). I have lots of different wool and wool/synthetic blend socks, and these are tiny compared to almost all of them, so I was concerned they would be a tight fit and would be uncomfortable. Fortunately, it appears that was an unwarranted concern. I've only worn one pair so far, and so I'll update if I find different with the other pairs or if things change after a few uses, but I found them to be very comfortable. They stretch more than most socks, and are therefore a very snug, though not tight, fit. They are very similar in size, stretch, and fit to my Smartwool socks (unfortunately, I'm not sure which ones, as I've bought multiple different types of Smartwool socks over the years, but those and these are both large), but these appear to have better toe seams that are more comfortable, whereas the Smartwool socks bunch up a bit at the edge of the seams, which has always bothered me. And like the Smartwool socks, despite stretching more than most when pulling them on, they're not overly thin, i.e. they're the typical thickness of "normal" socks, not dress sock thin like you might expect due to the stretching. And that's a good thing. It means they'll (hopefully) be fairly durable and last a while.
Of course, only time will tell, and the fact I don't know yet how durable they'll prove to be is the main reason I didn't give them 5 stars. The other reason is that, even though they do in fact (mostly) measure to the specified height, I would prefer if they were a little higher. I can always push socks down if they're too warm, but the fact these don't come up very high limits their usefulness in the cold. That said, as previously mentioned, they come up to 10" from the heel/ground when wearing them, which is 3" above the top of my boots, so they're more than sufficient for use with them. These are the crew socks, by the way. I also ordered hiker socks, which I'm somewhat regretting now due to the heights. I was probably figuring they would be more like what the crew socks are and the crew socks would be more like what most of my other socks are, so I'm not sure how much I'll actually wear them. I suppose they'll be good for warmer weather. Still, despite being a bit shorter than anticipated, I think I'll like these socks, and the price was very good at ~50-70% of what I've paid for my other socks so, assuming they have comparable durability, I'd give them 4.8 stars.
