How do these compare to the Beyerdynamic Amiron Home and the Sennheiser HD 700? These headphones look super comfortable but I have never spent $700 on a pair of headphones. I was abler to negotiate my Amiron Home down to 25% off the retail price brand new in box, and then I got my HD 700 used for about $150 less than what Amazon was selling it for. Is this a worthy investment?
edit: Also, is the cable removable? That is one of the major features that lead me to owning the 2 headphones that I own. I want to have that insurance of being able to just replace the cable, rather than having to replace the entire headphones if something were to happen to the cable.
JustFluxzUnable to answer the are they worth it part, but yes the cable is removable. They are 3.5 mm TS plugs and it comes with 2 in the box (6.35 mm and 4 pin XLR)
JustFluxzThey are better than the Amiron. The bass is more tamed and natural. The overall sound signature is more neutral and I found them to be more comfortable. There’s really no benefit in the Amiron (although the are great cans) other than maybe a wider soundstage albeit more artificial sounding to me. The Elex are what I believe the Amiron is aspiring to be.
mikedropI like my Amiron's more for relaxed listening. If I am trying to just chill, they are great for that. When I want to jam out and sing, I use my HD 700. I dont want any one headphones to overwrite the other, but I like to be able to mix things up from time to time while still hearing and feeling amazing quality. One gripe I have with the Amiron is that my ears often touch the inside of the cups. From what I read about the Elex, it seems like it would make up for those problems.
