They arrived yesterday, but the low end is literally all mud and pushed way high. After further investigation, the highs are all muted as well. I can't actually listen to them them for any length of time. Family members Porta-Pros don't sound like this, my Koss clip-ons with ostensibly the same driver don't sound like this. Not sure what happened, but I've contacted Massdrop. Will update as to their response.

BuckybitsMaybe try burning them in for a few hours...? See what that does to them.

BuckybitsThe Koss KSC75 does not use the same driver as the Porta Pro, but the KSC35 (discontinued and hadn't been widely available for years) did use it. The coil/diaphragm may be the same, but the different venting (ports) affect the tuning. The KSC75 has a much brighter sound than the Porta Pro. I compared these MD Porta Pros against several of the pairs I have in my collection and they all sounded the same (one pair was about 7 years old from the last time I warrantied my original pair). It may be you got a bad pair. The Porta Pros most definitely need to be run in for several hours, but I generally find them brighter than darker when new.
