Mine came with a patina and wobbles for roughly the last 25-30% of the spin time, but since I've gotten it to spin for over 10 minutes I am more than satisfied with it and would definitely consider buying another different Massdrop x Mitch Lum drop.
Opened the box and have been having fun with it all morning! Got it up to 9 minutes! No wobble except towards the end. Was nice and polished out of the box. Very satisfied with my first EDC Top!
Mine was also tarnished. But not a big deal to me. It does have a Violent wobble from start to finish however... Beautiful materials but terrible spin. Am I the only one?
Received my top today. This is my first ever top. Spun it a few times at the office and it spun about 4 mins. Am at home now and just spun the top, it lasted 6 mins 30 secs. No wobbles in mine except close to the end. My technique is not good (I have spun the top about 6-8 times, and this is my first top ever) so most times the top will spin to the sides of the glass base slightly, but eventually it will stabilise in the center and spin smoothly without much movement. Liking this top a lot!
Edit: Took a video and here’s the link: https://youtu.be/MXbcU1KxvfI
Spun for about 6 mins. Only started to sputter at around the 5 min mark. This is decent right? I read all the bad feeback and experiences, but mine seems good. Unless I don’t know what a good/bad top is!
While waiting for the video to upload to YouTube I spun the top again as hard as I could and it spun for 8 mins 45 seconds!
Hello,
Count me as disappointed as well. I'm new to both Massdrop and pocket sized spinning tops. Mine has all the same issues as most other people on this discussion page. Badly tarnished and a good deal of wobble. I was actually excited to get a high quality spinner that would blow me, my friends and family away. At this point, its just going in a drawer, never to be seen again. Do any of you experienced spinners have a suggestion as to a nice, smooth spinning top that will impress me and my friends at a reasonable price? This one just aint gonna cut it! Thanks...
Recieved mine today
here's a 6min spin I got with mine, fair bit of flutter going on, though reading through the comments here doesn't sound as bad as some others

Sir_CedThanks for taking the time to make and share the video. 6 minutes is a reasonable "out of the box" time - hopefully with practice you can squeeze more out of it!
My Mitch Lum has the terrible death wobble that just drives me nuts when its spinning. A lot of times it starts a ticking every rotation and I have as of yet to find out what is hitting the glass and making that sound but it sure makes it where it is no fun to spin. A true disappointment. I'm probably too late but who do I need to contact and where to try and get a refund or replacement. I had rather have a good replacement but I don't want to wait another 3 months and end up with the same lack of quality as this one.
LoneOakSorry to hear that. It's definitely not too late to request a refund, just go to "My Transactions" in your member profile, then click "Contact Support" at the bottom of the transaction for this order. As I have posted for a few other members, we're just not able to guarantee that a replacement would be better than the one you received, so a refund is probably the best route.
I have some patina / oil stains on my top, but that doesn't really bother me.
My top spins fairly ok, my best recorded spin so far was something above 6 minutes.
My only comparison is a brass and a copper foreverspin top, so no real competition. My top thankfully doesn't wobble.
The thing that bothers me most are all the scratches / dents and dinks around the outer bottom ring. I tried to capture them in the 3 attached pictures. I think the middle one shows it best.
Mine came with damage to the underside as well. The finish was particularly bad, looking more like bronze than brass, and sporting a fingerprint to boot. It has an occasional wobble but rights itself after some time spinning, after which it spins quietly and nicely.
Spins pretty good, better than everything I have except the Vorso Mk1. I like how the grip looks when spinning. Was not amused at how the finish looked upon opening the box. Did someone load these boxes by hand without wearing gloves?
