Product Description
A collaboration with Toronto-based United Stock Dry Goods, these jeans feature a 14-ounce overdyed selvage denim custom woven in Okayama, Japan. The fabric uses a rope-dyed indigo warp and a rope-dyed navy weft, and will quickly develop a dramatic gradient as the two fade independently through their different shades Read More
Bit of a late response on my part, but they're similar fabrics. The fit is going to be pretty similar as well. It's not going to be exactly the same as those PBJ's just like these wouldn't be the same as a Levi's Custom Shop, or a any other pair of raw denim.
Your point about price is interesting though. There's a lot of price based perception bias in enthusiast communities, especially those surrounding apparel. The fact that these are $100 and PBJs are ~$200 doesn't tell you much beyond some additional polish on the PBJs (hidden rivets, art on the pocket bags, etc).
Overall, with raw denim, I think it's most important to get the pair you're most excited about wearing. If that means you've gotta wait a month and save, I say do it.
Oh great more selvedge jeans in waif-only sizes . I'm not some crazy bodybuilder but I lift weights and have athletic proportions and I could never squeeze my non-manlet legs into these silly little jeans. Please for the love of Zeus release some raw denim in big boy sizes.
GrrrrrrrrHey! Check out the easy guy jeans from naked and famous, I own a pair and love them, and as a bodybuilder I understand it is how hard to find jeans that look good with these tree trunk quads
The sizing seems strange. As someone with a size 28" waist, it seems the '28' size jeans actually have a 30" waist. Am I interpreting this correctly? Thanks, never bought jeans from MD since sizing is always an issue for me.
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for your interest in this limited launch of our collaboration with United Stock Dry Goods. Over the last few years, USDG has gained a strong following in the raw denim community for their unique fabrics and flattering Narrow fit. Their fabrics are all sourced from small mills in Okayama, Japan and the jeans are constructed in Toronto,Canada. Their company principles are Honesty, Quality, and Integrity, values that align with the enthusiast community on Massdrop and at large.
Massdrop x USDG 14oz Navy - This is an overdyed denim, meaning both the warp and the weft fabrics are dyed (where traditionally the warp is dyed and the weft is left white). The warp is indigo rope dyed, and the weft is navy rope dyed. This means both fabrics will fade simultaneously, each creating its own spectrum of color (from indigo to white or navy to white). The result of these fabrics fading in concert with one another is a unique spectrum of color you’ll only see in these jeans. The quality Canadian construction and American-made YKK hardware will keep them together for years of great fades.
Hey MD, you need to listen to me and listen carefully. There are many of us old farts that love MD products. But unfortunately, this is one that some cannot. If these were available up to size 44, I'd buy 2 pair and I'd bet you'd sell a slew of others. You've got to remember that most of you are "young pups" and just learning how to graze and feed yourselves. When you get to my age you've got foraging down to an art. We don't hesitate when the chief says, "Off to the trough!". So take this sage advice to heart and deliver the holy grail of jeans to those of us who have taught you so well. Carry on Grasshopper.
Seems like there are a lot of younger guys not happy because they don't have the super slim or super taper that is the trend right now.
LOL, remember when super Skinny jeans were all the rage?
How long did that last?
I think these brands here are avoiding the seasonal fashion trends and sticking with more conservative styles proven to last longer than a year.
