Numbers are just stickers on the dice. They are not etched at all. It does appear to be real TE but the stickers... Why?!

The company that. Makes these just starting making engraved sets about a month or two ago, it appears that these are the upgraded engraved set,as the page states that the dice have engraved numarals and not printed. I recently bought an amethyst set off massdrop by the same company that are engraved.

Martinez530I have the engraved amethyst too and they are beautiful! They finally updated this drop description to confirm these are engraved as well, so I just joined the drop.

Oblivion77They don't have crystal dice, so that kind of makes this (really transparent) ad a bit meaningless.

JawshyI thought tigers eye only comes in one color. Also I haven't looked but I doubt you'll find tigers eye dice for less than $30.

Be informed about stone dice.
They have to be carved by hand. This means corners can be nicked. It means they won't be game science perfect geometry. And in working with such dynamic materials it means appearance is highly variable.
I recently purchased a Ruby Zoisite set from MDG through this site. I experienced imbalances in the 12 and 20 that were too slanted to be fair in my mind. This is always a risk. After communicating with MDG they apologized for the situation and have provided replacements.
The take away is that stone dice are a risk. If you want that beauty, make sure you purchase with a company with a commitment to customer satisfaction. MDG can make that claim.
ZyraelSorry, I just saw this. I'm very sorry to hear about the issues! I just checked our website contact forms, and we didn't receive anything regarding this. If you could please email us at MetallicDiceGames@gmail.com, we'll take care of these issues.

TasselhoffThat was a bit odd. We got the Carnelian set and they offered bags with them. I guess bags are cheap and easy to find anyway, but I will be getting boxes from Die Hard Dice. They are cheap and cushion the dice individually in foam when not in use.

SDCromwellI can't get the bags easily in my country. I checked on Ebay but the shipping costs are rather higher than I am willing to pay. Those boxes sound awesome.

Are stone dice good like these good for real use, by which I mean do they roll truly randomly? Or are they more for decorative purposes?

mjohnsullivanIn general stone dice can be great for gaming. Metal ones too. But MDG has no quality control, you should steer clear.

Just got mine and as soon as I rolled the d4 it chipped and broke instantly. The rest are fine and very nice feeling but still upset it broke first roll

TorrinTiger's Eye is unfortunately very brittle, so I would probably blame the material rather than the workmanship.

From the images and the MSRP on the 8/24/17 drop, I take it these are the engraved version. Can anyone at Massdrop or MDG confirm this, as the drop description does not specify?

RavenofoctoberWell, I reached out to Massdrop via the Help Center, and they were entirely unhelpful. So if anyone from Metallic Dice Games is floating around, I'd love an answer to this question so I can be sure I'll get the product I'm expecting (engraved Tiger Eye dice) if I join the drop.

This was my third set of MDG dice and I have to say while they are nice, there seem to be some serious QA issues at MDG. First set is fine, but the Turquoise Metal dice was shipped with 3 D10s and no D12. Massdrop took care of it, refunding the cost of the set, but I still don't have a complete set of dice. Hard to argue since I am not out money, but still disappointed I don't have a full set.
The Tigereye d20 is seriously lopsided, visible across the table by another player. I would love to order more MDG products because I really like the weight of stone, less than metal but more than plastic.
But taking into consideration QA issues I am just not sure it is worth the trouble.

RgconnerA lot of gemstone and other odd material dice are hand carved and therefore not guaranteed fair. No idea if that is the case here. The images show the numbers to be dead centre, which is a good sign.
