Product Description
Sporting an unconventional yet highly ergonomic design, the split Mistel MD770 mechanical keyboard was created to improve posture and reduce discomfort. Split down the middle, the MD770 allows you to place each half wherever you want: leave them together for a more traditional look, or spread them out to take some pressure off of your wrists and elbows Read More
Good board, types well, weird spacebars to customize
Overall, no major complaints about the board except for the spacebar. We put custom caps on it except for the space, because not only are they weird sizes (3.25 and 3), but also the stabilizers underneath are not in a standard position. If you want to customize this, be ready for that.
I wanted a more ergonomic keyboard but wasn't ready to go the ortholinear route. THere aren't that many split ergonomic staggered keyboards in white that are also aesthetically pleasing (in my opinion). Mistel checked all the boxes for me and I'm really happy with it!
happy with it as a first split, but maybe not a keeper
this was my first foray into less standard keyboards. i got a split primarily for wrist pain, and for that i have to say it's definitely helped. i find it hard to go back to a regular keyboard. im a huge fan of how much more deskspace i get with this compared to my old 100%, and i really like the flexibility i can have with the keyboard.
that being said, there are two issues that i've experienced so far in ~3 months:
(really irritating) this keyboard is uneven. the right half rattles when i type, repeatedly hitting the desk and making audible thunking noises when i hit backspace or type particularly vigorously. in practice this is something easily fixed by sticking some postits underneath it, or placing it on a long mousepad, but i think its reasonable to be irritated that a $100+ keyboard doesn't lay flat.
(minor issue) on startup, sometimes the left side of the keyboard wont register. i have to unplug / replug the cables maybe a couple times for the left side to connect.
these aren't deal breakers, and overall im not sad that i got it. it does what it needs to for a reasonable price and my wrists/hands are much happier for it. but in the long run i think i'll definitely be keeping my eye out for an alternative.
purchased with cherry mx browns, will probably swap those out later. the leds are nice and bright although i generally just stay with 1 setting and dont mess around with them too much. havent messed around with the rubber feet yet but i am interested in the tenting layout. overall happy with my purchase : )
White case, brown cherry switches, POM rainbow keycaps. So comfy for work. Love the size, TKL gives more room for the mouse, split gives more room for the cat. Bright, bright rgb lighting. (please excuse the messy desk...)
I love to collect unique and unconventional keyboards, so the Mistel was a must for me.
I was not disappointed by the looks or feel of the Mistel, but I was let down to learn the body is made of plastic and not metal. I think the quality and worth would have been elevated tenfold if the body was powder coated aluminum or similar. I also found the lighting options a bit clunky to go through, not a huge problem though as I usually set it and forget it. Over all I am happy and satisfied with this buy.
Using the MD770 RGB on my Mac. It is my first split keyboard, although I did a bunch of research before buying this. I was tempted to buy parts and build my own keyboard, but the MD770 fit what I wanted.
It was easy to set-up for the Mac (just adjust a dip switch), and the built-in RGB light animations are fun.
It even comes with rubber feet pads that can be added to elevate and angle the two pieces toward you, or at a slight angle for better ergonomic position with your hands.
The only 'upgrade' I'm considering is a different set of keycaps, because... well... I can!
