Somehow my current daily driver IEMs
When I bought these, I completely misread the title. I clearly wasn't paying that much attention, because I was expecting a pair of Starfields to be arriving at my doorstep, and not the repainted SSRs that I ended up receiving. I remember being very disappointed when I opened the package and read "Stardust" on the package. Now these earbuds are always in my bag. I've tried out a lot of different IEMs in the two or three years that I've gotten deeper and deeper into headphones and audio in general, and very few have been as pleasing to me as these have been. After trying a few different Tin Hifi buds, the Blon BL-05s's, and even the P1s, nothing has been so easy for me to toss into my bag since I picked up the Tanchjim Coras I bought in 2019. They're not perfect; they can be lackluster in bass and are not the most clearly resolving IEMs I've ever heard, but there's something about them that just makes them pleasant for me. They have one of the best fits for my ears (after swapping the tips out for some of moondrop's spring tips, the stock ones were just awful), and sound good enough that I don't feel the need to look for something better right now. I'm also rating 5 stars despite not really liking the price for these in particular. The general consensus seems to be that they are just repainted SSRs without any change in tuning, and considering the SSRs are $25 less right now on Amazon I would recommend those over the Stardust unless you really enjoy the paint job. Big fan of the sparkly blue myself

For the money
I am new to IEMs. I was looking for a good set of wired earbuds for my macbook. For the price these exceeded my expectations! The staging and clarity is great for music. I will say I had to eq out some of the treble, I would not consider it harsh. Just not for me. For daily meetings these combined with my yeti caster is phenomenal. And using them for monitoring streams and trainings I record I cannot complain. For my use they are an amazing edition to my EDC. I did replace the storage bag with an old altoids tin, for the lulz.

Tuned for precision, not bombast
My cards on the table: I bought these for the looks, and on that criterion these Starfields are a winner. My last pair of dazzling blue IEM from Jade Audio at around the same sub-$100 price were a disappointment: overly high in the vocal presence region giving a tinny sound. My best buy in IEM are the Tin Audio T2 Plus, which ARE tuned for bombast. Highly dynamic, bass that punches, BUT with a weakness in that the 1kHz - 2kHz region is too hot, creating a "shout" that at times is grating. Easily fixed with a slight EQ adjustment. But these are not aesthetically as handsome as the Starfields. Sonically, the Starfields are keepers unless one is a bass-head. I'd compare them to Grado or AKG Q701 full-size headphones in that the bass is shy of the rest of the spectrum, but responds to either EQ or an amp with a Schitt-like tuning. Even with EQ, the bass (so far, still burning in) does not become particularly articulate in defining the leading edge of a bass note. Mids and treble, though, punch way above the weight of most I've heard in this price point, precisely focusing on the differences between, say, violins and violas; oboes and clarinets. Plus, they're unfazed when the music gets dense with instruments and crescendo. Soundstage is good, not the widest but precise. Cable is an equally handsome blue, without annoying "memory curls". Eartips are limited to one silicon each SML, roll your own as needed. At a sub-$100 price, easy to recommend for those who like the look and don't require bass bombast.

Nice novelty IEM for Moondrop fans
I love Moondrop IEM's and adore my Blessing 2's. These are a special edition "Stardust" which is a rebranded SSR with the Starfield paint job, which means the sound exactly like a $40 IEM. Even though I marked them as "Not Recommended" that doesn't mean they're bad or even mediocre- I simply think these are a specialty product for a certain type of person. Sound-wise I found them to be pitched a bit more in the upper ranges around 3k but they weren't as sibilant as I expected. I mainly have used them for light gaming and listening to podcasts so far and they're alright for that. They're very crisp and the treble is presented nicely. I am usually a bit more sensitive to high ranges and was not bothered here. I mostly listen to J-pop and electronic music and didn't have any complaints with the sound. The unboxing experience was very good. The actual box was really beautiful and included a nice anime girl on the front that reflected the light nicely. Inside there is an included a credit-card-like item that shows which day your Stardust was "born" and which number it was out of the factory. There is also a few standard Moondrop silicone eartips, small felt bag, and a rubber wrap to tie them up when you want to store these away. I find these to be much smaller than I expected- much more similar to the Moondrop Quarks which are very small and lightweight. The paintjob was wonderful but I wish the actual IEMs were larger to see more of the sparkle. I am concerned about the notorious paint-chipping that has been problematic for the aforementioned Starfield. I did find the cable to be very subpar- but it's about the same as other chi-fi bundled cables and has the same build as the Blessing 2's "questionable" cable. Though I did think the Stardust's cable was a bit nicer since it was blue and had a nicer finish on the outside. However, that did not help that fact that it feels very flimsy and tangles too easily. I highly recommend getting a replacement cable. I would say that these are strictly a product for hardcore Moondrop fans or IEM collectors, and should be avoided by those seeking a cost-effective product. The actual price-to-performance ratio is not that great, but these are easily the nicest looking IEMs I own and one of the best unboxing experience I had in a long time. It's a hard sell since the Aria's are only a bit more expensive and the SSR's these are based on sound exactly the same for $20 less. The sound is good- but is the sparkling blue colorway and cute waifu worth it? For me it was and I was glad I bought it, but it might not be the same for everyone.

Unique Product for Niche Audience
Pros:
  • Unique and Beautiful finish
  • Avalibility (first saw these headphones few years back as a T-mall exclusive in China)
  • Sparkly Highs
Cons:
  • Not the best sounding headphones at the price
  • Sparse Accessories
  • Can be fatiguing for some listeners
To get this out of the way. The finish of these headphones are definitely the star of the show. No pun intended. These as far as I am aware of are basically re-modeled Moondrop SSRs. They were created to be tie in products to the launch of the Chinese Vocaloid Xingchen (which roughly translates to Stardust in English) Hence the very anime packaging! Perhaps because of this tie in the SSR was chosen as the base as these headphones definitely accels at female vocals. Some may find it fatiguing, but as someone who favors trebels and mids over bass I enjoyed them. I will say it is a little harsher then some headphones in the price point, and that there are cheaper comparable headphones in terms of sound (KZ ZS5 comes to mind) So I would only recommend these if you really are in love with the finish, a vocaloid fan or have a strong bias towards treble.

Do not buy Drop has stoped caring about their customers. They no longer allow returns for defective devices. These came and the left headphone doesn't work. they refused a return.

Ever had a birthday party where everyone else showed up except your best friend named bass? Yaaaa.... the stardusts. Still was a decent party though, just missing my friend.

No bass/low FR and rapid distortion sets in with light eq
The IEM’s seem well built and fit in the ear very comfortably. Mid and higher range is crystal clear. However, they have little to no bass from about 100 hz and down. Used PEQ to try and adjust to taste and driver distortion sets in rather rapidly. Distortion is so excessive that it makes these units unusable. Unless you like no bass, then they are perfect.

get these for the looks
My previous experience with audiophile gear is HD 6XX with a FiiO e10k, WF1000XM3 that I EQed to emphasize mids and highs, and kz pros (that I didn't like and sold). So it should be obvious that I don't really care for bass that much, these stardust then sound really good to me personally. However, I can see why some people they're going to find these very lacking for many genres of music. That said, who cares about sound when these IEMS look this good. I'd happily spend the price premium for this paint job over the stock SSRs. YMMV.
