zambeezy@zambeezy - Thanks for the kind words, and for looking out for the community with better deals. However, you linked to the Tour model, which has a lower MSRP because it has less features than the Day model. This is still the best deal that I can find.
DuxDawgJust curious, does the bag have a slot for a water tube to come out of? There is a tube in one of the photos on the description page, but I can't seem to see any slots for the tube to come out of the bag.
It seems like a great bag though, too bad the strapettes are not available as an option, or I'd be all over this drop. Maybe something for Massdrop to think about for the next drop?
chongcherYou are correct, no slot. Remember this is a fannypack, not a backpack. It sits on our hips and is only 13" tall so it goes maybe halfway up your back.
However, you can still easily use this pack with a bladder. I have put my CamelBak with a 2L bladder in the main pouch, put a carabiner through both pull tabs on the zipper and through a loop on the side of the pack (to keep the zipper closed) then clipped the drink tube to the strappettes. This does carry well and keeps the CamelBak off my back during the hot and humid days of summer when I'm carrying as little as possible anyhow.
The caveat is this takes up almost all of the space in the main compartment and the main is 2/3 of the internal carrying capacity of this pack. Could take just the bladder and save some space. I choose to leave the bladder inside its mini backpack so that I can wear the CamelBak separately when I find wild edible plants, natural tinders, flint, etc that I want to gather.
I specify internal space as you can easily attach multiple items to the outside. Like a CCF sit pad, spare flannel shirt, sandals, swim trunks and a poncho all on the outside of the pack and strappettes. Still had enough room inside for lunch and supper on the trail (alcohol stove, windscreen, pot, mug and bowl, utensils, etc), camera, compass, maps, FAK (First Aid kit), etc. A comfortable summertime sunup to past sundown trek using just this pack and a lil creativity. Hope that helps!
Looks like this is a men's (hip belt is straight up/down). Does anyone know of a similar product for women or that could be used by women (yes, I realize some women are more straight up/down but most have "hips").
I'm looking to try a lumbar pack for day hikes or short overnights. Any tips appreciated! Thanks!
This looks like a wonderful product but they have a "light" version as well. I was wondering if there is interest in the community to do a drop of Mountainsmith's Daylight pack: http://mountainsmith.com/products/all-lumbar-packs/daylight-451.html
Slightly less capacity, but weighs only 14 ounces and packs into a pocket. Looks like it would stow nicely in your main pack for use as a daybag or summit pack.
