I saw some had issues with Android App (MOZA Genie), which also doesn't get high ratings on Google Play (2.1/5). Apparently you don't need the app to use the gimbal though. For $80, it seems comparable with the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 (or possibly better in many ways). For $80 (w/free ship), it seems like a steal if it works!
I got this from Amazon.es, and had to return it. Lot of firmware problems.
You can use it without the original app, just by itself, but it loses a lot of functionalities without it.
perez_chuckmay I know which phone you are using to connect with Mini Mi? I would forward this to APP engineers to follow up. Because Mini Mi is compatible for most of smartphones currently sold in the market. Thanks in advance.
MozagimbalI used S9 and I was in contact with them trying to solve the problem, but no possible solution at the time.
It got bricked and after leaving it alone for a day I was able to recover it, but still, firmware failures.
I purchased this through Massdrop and the buying experience was smooth. The gimbal and app on the other had have been absolute nightmares. My suggestion, take a hard pass on this and go with another, more refined system like DJI
Yet again .. another drop that can't be shipped out of the USA! Why? This gimbal is available from Aliexpress but not at the same great price. Why can't it be shipped into the real world?
threadsI'm guessing it's due to the lion battery, shipping lion batteries overseas is very very annoying. Some carriers will ship lion battery products to certain countries. With massdrop's customers worldwide, they could be working with many carriers to ship to their customers around the world, which would be a logistical nightmare.
A friend of mine did a drone kickstarter, when it came time to ship the drones out of Shenzhen to around the world, they realized that they had to work with dozens of shipping companies to get their drones to their customers worldwide due to lion battery regulators. And there were countries that no shipper would ship to, so they had to issue many refunds as well.
If you notice on Massdrop, most USA-only products are electronics with lion batteries.
