I find if I have the product plugged into the computer, then shut down computer. Turn it on the next day and it won't turn on automatically by itself. I have to manually un-plug and re-plug to get it start again. Meaning I have to do this EVERY DAY when I first turn on the computer, anyone else have this issue?

Hello @Hyde, HUD100 should automatically turn on when it's connected to the laptop. I saw your review and it seems like you requested for a refund. I'm so sorry that you received a defective product.

It's ok no worries, both Radsone and Drop handled it really well and I was glad at least the problem was resolved quickly. I might try a different unit from Radsone again in the future. :)

My guess is that they probably took the feedback from drop and other forums, also maybe low sales number prompted them for a price drop. Though I already bought it from drop so a bit too late for me. :(

I wonder why Drop always bring the product back so fast before people even receive their first batch. I mean it's shipped but I don't see it arrive my door anytime soon given the current state of affair. So unfortunately I can't provide any feedback to people who's looking to join round 2 of this drop. If they would've just pushed this back by 2 weeks or so then it would've make a lot more sense. Oh well...... *shrug*

Double-edged sword - if you and everybody else who got the first round hate it they won't sell anymore. Gotta get while the gettin's good.

It's a tough call because even round 1 only sold 25 units..... so they weren't exactly "hot", but I get what you mean though lol.

There's a lot of discussion going on about the HUD100 needing more power. If you do the math, 2.26 mW are actually 319 mW @ 16 Ω - which is quite a lot on a device this small! I quite like the HUD100 and its filters are finally filters that have an audible impact on the sound. The price is in line with the features it offers, in my opinion, though I think it's better placed at $149 than at $179. I published a review on the device which you can read here: https://www.soundphilereview.com/reviews/earstudio-hud100-review-8384/

Yeah I totally agree with you, I think it's suppose to compete with Dragonfly Red ($200) in which case it's a good deal at $149 but at $179 it just seems kind of on-par even though I guess people say HUD100 sounds better. Also doesn't help that if you consider the more recent offerings (SMSL Idea, E1DA 9038S, Hifime S2 ...etc) then those are at least half price compare to Dragonfly Red and HUD100 and about similar size and functions and sound. I think if $149 is their regular price and Drop can get us somewhere in between $100-125 then this would've sold much better than the current number suggests (18 sold at the time I wrote this). EDIT: On a second thought, maybe the MEMS oscillator and Arms Cortex and being able to pack it into such a tiny package cost extra money, so maybeeeeee the price is justified. I did order one so I'll find out later lol. Details outlined on their page: https://www.radsone.com/hud100

@Radsone_Emily I have a question regarding drivers, if I do end up purchase it I will most likely be using it at work on Windows 10 PC. Is the device plug and play? The driver is only needed if I want to play 32 bit or DSD is that right? Because there's permission issues at work so I most likely won't be able to install any software, so I want to know at least this would work without driver. Thanks!

As a happy owner of an ES100, I'm having a hard time seeing a reason to replace it with this. No 2.5 balanced? That's what I use the ES100 for. When you're already talking about components this small, size isn't much of an issue. Since I only use mine with IEM's I don't see much need for more power... If I'm going to listen to my 4XX I'll use my Atom or Valhalla 2.

This isn't meant to replace the ES100; different use-case. This does not have bluetooth or a battery; it's powered by the USB connection and does DAC from the USB signal.

I have the HUD100 now and I like the sound quite a lot, but I don't know how hyped it'll get when the e1da 9038s G3 is releasing soon. I'm already having some issues with the sound on different drivers of the HUD100. Maybe a driver udpate will fix it. First impressions of the Earstudios HUD100 are here: https://youtu.be/AYLvCXaxCQY

Nice review, I was also contemplating about E1DA a while back also. But since I don't have any balanced cable/headphones right now also it sounds like HUD100 sounds warmer so it's probably more to what my preference lies, I'll skip the E1DA for now. I'm currently using Dragonfly Red, do you think it would be worth while for me to try HUD100? They're about similar tier, I just wish the bottom end on Dragonfly Red is a bit tighter also more in quantity also reaches lower. If you haven't heard the Dragonfly Red then my apologies, but otherwise any input is much appreciated! Thanks!

I emailed the company a week ago asking the price delivered to Australia. They told me this was going to be available in DROP a week later for 149 USD Plus 5 USD delivery but they could do the wonderful deal and favor of sending one to me a week earlier for just 179 USD with free delivery. How nice of them!!! LOOOOL. This in my opinion is worth not more then 100 USD and stretching it by far. Everyone wants to become quick billionaires today it seems..... Good Luck With That "RADSONE".
