Product Description
Rike Knife has quickly earned a reputation for its precise machine work, and the newest edition of the 1508s folder raises the bar yet again. Producing an integral handle frame—in which a pocket is created for the blade by removing material from a solid bar of TC4 titanium—is an impressive feat of engineering to begin with Read More

At $319 from $425 that's a pretty sweet 25% discount! I'm tempted. But there are really nice integrals that are priced like that everyday such as the WE Drakon. And this is also a touch small for my taste (3.25" blade while Drakon is 3.4"). Well, I got 7 days left to think about it some more. Thinking.... Thinking... Thinking....

This looks nice but is pricey and a bit small for me I think. I have a couple Rike knives and they are good but I have quibbles with both. The both have titanium frame locks with G10 on the opposite side. Finish on the titanium is great on both. Both also have 154CM steel blades, so not high end steel but still decent. First is the 802G totally blacked out. The flipper is a bit too hard to open if you do not hit it just right but I honestly can not say it is broken in and have not adjusted it. It also has what I thought was a thumb hole to open but it turns out to be purely decorative. Zero luck with thumb opening. It was 99 dollars here. The second is the M3 in bronze gold. If you like the looks of this knife, I do, it is very nice at the $135 it was here. Flips perfectly, waves open perfectly and you can also thumb it open easily on the end of the wave cutout. The anodizing is fantastic but the G10 scale in beige opposite just looks terrible in comparison. The black G10 on the 802G looks fine but on the M3 the beige looks cheap. I would love this knife if it was titanium all around. So, I do not have an integral knife yet, but not sure if this is the one for me. Not that I don't think Rike can do great work, they do, but I think I want a slightly larger knife for my beefy hands at this price.

Think I'm going to do mine a more metallic shade of green. It should give a nice stripe effect, but you never know until you give it the go.

As far as M390 and other super steels; your point about stropping is good. Of course, it is also true for most PM steel. a strop and some rouge keeps most super steels in shape for a loooooong time. Budget steels need a machine, or skill with a whetstone/ceramic rods, stuff like that to be used with some regularity to keep budget steel razor sharp, and it is time consuming and not easy to learn on your own. I have never had to sharpen my 20CV Grip. Stropping is all it has required. The same is true for my S90V Osborne. I have barely even had to strop my S110V PM2, and I am not entirely certain I needed to do that. It turns out that buying what might be charitably described as ‘way too damn many knives’ has an odd upside; they accumulate less individual wear.

If you can afford this knife, you can afford to save 1/3 more and then buy a Chris Reeve knife. It could be a Sebenza, an Inkosi or Zaan, doesn’t matter, you’ll thank urself.

From some unknown reason, Rike thinks they can price their knives like Reate! I own several of each...Rike is NO Reate! Rike knives should be priced more like Kershaw, CRKT and Gerber!

DougFLA123The $100 Rikes aren't all that special. They're good but I think Gerber is actually a fair comparison. And integrals really aren't my thing. I get why they're cool, but to me they're not worth a 2x or 3x price modifier, which is what they seem to command on the open market. I know why they cost that much more, but I don't know that people get what they pay for out of the deal. Whenever I'm about to get one I always rethink. But I fricking love both the M series knives I have. They hold their own to Reate, and the wave feature really puts the M3 over the top for me.
Really good looking folder (if you leave out the tacky colors). Country of origin would be nice. I don't explicitly trust any company any more not to sell imported stuff at domestically made prices. This is a bit rich for me anyway. I have a bad habit of losing folders when camping or roadtripping. And I don't buy folders that I don't use.

For that $$ I would look at a Micro tech OTF or a Paragon. Awful lot of $ for something that's .....Nothing Special IMHO. 😎

ChelemboundSo you pass on this flipper for gas station looking tactical daggers? They’re not even the same class let alone same purpose knives.

To those wondering, these are amazing knives. I owned one in full blackout, and after a short break in period, it became one of my favorite pieces to carry. The action needed some tuning and relubing, but after the break in, it was drop shut smooth, or would close with a light shake if tightened slightly more. The centering was dead on, and the fit and finish were excellent. Not only that, but the size and ergonomics were phenomenal for EDC. The clip had perfect retention, but wouldn't chew up your pocket or anything. All in all, my experiences with Rike have all been really solid, although I have heard about some people having issues with QC. All of my specimens have been some of my favorite knives, but YMMV.
