I bought this during the last drop - the metal rings holding the strap to the bag broke off like the 2nd day I had it and I had to replace them with some random stuff I had lying around, pretty disappointing.

First time I notice this bag, really like the the style, Its a good price, then I look at the reviews.... damn...

They must have the one in the picture stuffed with newapaper, because what i received was a very floppy, thin canvas sack, with zippers, pockets and a strap. Cant imagine what i could carry in it (except a sturdy cardboard box) that would make it look like a “messenger” bag. It will still look like a formless sack with a strap. Not impressed.

This does not have padding and is more like a large handbag than a messenger bag...I have one (Rothco) that looks just like this and it does not have the usual messenger bag flap on the top...zipper instead. It is not a bad bag for the price. A couple of the outside pockets are oddly shaped...one is too deep, the other too small. If is unlined canvas, and not necessarily what i would call heavy duty. The fabric is not heavy enough to maintain the shape shown in the photo. I would use a padded sleeve if I were planning to use this for a laptop. It is not "last bag I will ever need to buy" quality. But, for the price it is functional, and does the job.

I'm wondering how safe this thing would be for carrying around a laptop. Is it padded inside?

andrewwatsonI think it would do better with a smaller laptop. Doesnt seem to have evidence of padding. You could get a laptop sleeve.
