Whether you’re on a thru-hike or traveling in a foreign country, the Sawyer personal water filtration bottle provides you with potable drinking water in seconds. Weighing just 5.5 ounces, the 1-liter bottle uses Sawyer’s 0.1-micron hollow-fiber filter to remove bacteria, particles, and protozoa Read More
I just got around to checking. It looks like my current bottle is more like 7.1cm in diameter. So it seems the Sawyer would be a little too wide. Thanks for the idea.
The claim of removing pesticides is misleading. 0.1 micron might remove "some" pesticides....ish, but you need charcoal to actually remove it. 0.1 micron is basically particles and biologics except for viruses. -I'm a chemist who actually deals in water purification on an industrial scale....using the same hollow fiber tech.-
FriggaDYeah, somebody is asleep at the switch here - that's a major inaccuracy and it looks to be all on Massdrop, because that spurious claim doesn't appear anywhere on Sawyer's website that I can see. I don't understand how anyone thinks this filter, that makes no claim to block something as large as viruses, is going to separate pesticide molecules from water. I use a sawyer squeeze filter, I'm a fan, but don't make stupid claims that just aren't true. Especially one that might lead someone to put their health at risk.
Rick_in_ICTIn fact, I saw this on Sawyer's website right after I posted:
"Chemicals
The Sawyer filter does NOT remove iron, sulfur, other chemicals, or simple compounds. Taste can be masked by using flavor additives like Gatorade or crystal light (filter needs to be cleaned immediately after using them). "
