Product Description
From the canvas-style nylon strap to the utilitarian dial, Seiko’s Flieger SNK automatic watch follows in the tradition of 19th century military-issue watches. The minimalist dial is adorned with lumed Flieger-style hands, lumed hour markers, a triangle at 12 o’clock, and a day-and-date window at 3 o’clock Read More
Zackattack91I bought the Seiko 5 Automatic SNK803 with beige dial and beige canvas strap last year, love the watch but hate the color of the strap. Yesterday I picked up the Seiko 5 Automatic SNK809 with black dial and black canvas strap with plans to remove the black canvas strap from the black dial SNK809 and put it on the beige dial SNK803. I ordered the Nick Mankey Designs leather ruler watch strap with nickel studs (18mm) to replace the black canvas strap on the black dial SNK809 automatic.

A whopping $2.25 off retail. This is such a monumentally large waste of time that I am embarrassed for ever having even expended energy thinking about it.
Bird-e'Meh, same price as Amazon / Meh, $2 off retail' misses the point somewhat, when the positive for the (many) non-USAians who also form part of Massdrop's customer base is 'wow, I can actually get this - cool!'.
Sometimes the advantage of Massdrop is the cheaper shipping, or in many cases, the possibility of any shipping at all, to countries other than the USA.
Not having a crack at our 'murican friends (hi, y'all!) however: Massdrop, please keep offerings like this coming, as they have value and are valued. Cheers, 'straya / Rest Of The World.
I have this one. It's overall a great design, with one glaring problem. Great face, font, numbers, good time keeper on a quality seiko mvt etc...its simply too small. It would be great for a 10 year old girl but for an average sized adult male, it looks silly. If this came in 40mm I'd have one in each color. And no, making the same thing in some ridiculous size like 44-46mm is not the answer. 40mm plz.
Nice band, that's a classic look. I have my Flight on a Horween Chromexcel band, but it's the PVD coated case. I wish I had gotten the one you have, but the price was just too good for mine under $100. The picture was before I put the original Orient PVD signed buckle on.
this watch is literally available almost always at this price, what the hell is going on with massdrop? I've actually seen this in the 30s and 40s frequently.
CascadianAaronFair enough complaint, but amazon does not ship this model out to many countries, so this is a great way to get it if you live outside the US.
Just like Yamazki, I was unable to buy this on Amazon for the discount prices they offered and get it shipped to AUS (without using a shipping intermediary which would obviously cost more.) Found a few from SEA that were offering comparable prices but how can you trust anything that comes from an online dealer with it's stores in Honk Kong and Singapore, so it just makes sense to get it here and wait. Gives me time to grab an 18mm NATO band ready to swap out when it arrives.
Probably a great watch for the money -- but a fair heads up from someone who has been wearing one for at least 2 years: they keep terrible time. Mine is usually ~5min slow over the course of a work week. As long as you generally just give rough times; "quarter to", "half past", etc.. you'll be fine. If you need it to remain accurate for more than a few days at a time I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
There's also quite a bit of conflicting info RE: water resistance.
Seiko has several models with MUCH better movements that are are almost identical to this one aesthetically. One was just recently on MassDrop and I stupidly passed it up.

EDIT: FWIW I paid $44 (inc tax&ship) for mine in 2014.
SpiritOneI got one of the black/grey nato straps to put on my Sub to match what class Bond wears. Forgot the brand, got it on Amazon many years ago. It's held up well and looks great.
SleekI've answered this comment quite a few times, so here's the answer I usually give:
There certainly can be a difference between MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) and the "street price," so to speak, which is what you're referring to. For instance, the price of a Seiko would probably be different if you bought it in a nice jewelry store instead of online via Amazon. And since you and other folks here are pretty deal-saavy, you know where to look to get the best price (moreso than the average consumer). That said, the MSRP is a constant value whereas the cheapest online price can vary wildly, so for that reason we use the MSRP as a benchmark. Also, when you factor in different countries (we sell things all over the world), the concept of a 'best price' becomes impossible to ascertain. So MSRP, even though it's not always the cheapest price for everyone, is a constant.
