As any diver knows, visibility is key under pressure. That’s why nearly every aspect of the Seiko Prospex Sun Diver is designed to be seen without straining the eyes—no matter the conditions. With large hour markers and wide, easy-to-read hands, all of which are covered with Seiko’s Lumibrite coating, this diver can be read up to 200 meters deep. The stainless steel case is constructed with two-pieces for maximum shock protection. Anti-reflective coating on the sapphire crystal further enhances visibility, while a screw down crown prevents accidental operation.
Made with Seiko’s 5M85 Kinetic GMT movement—developed in the late 1980s—this timepiece combines the accuracy of quartz with the winding mechanism of an automatic watch. A fully charged kinetic watch will store up to 6 months of power. A GMT hand allows users to keep track of time in two different time zones. The unidirectional rotating bezel is cut with deep grooves, so it’s easy to operate even when wearing diving gloves. As for the strap, it’s made from sturdy silicone. The accordion-style shape provides a combination of flexibility and strength.
