DanielFerrerTo muddy the waters even further, my SRPA85 (the 779 on the bracelet rather than the rubber strap, sold at Costco), says "MOV'T JAPAN" along with the movement number inside the chapter ring at 6 o'clock. This is different than both the SRP77X K1 and J1 models. I assume it was probably made in Malaysia (or somewhere else in Asia outside of Japan), but have zero complaints. Fit & finish is perfect, proper chapter ring and bezel alignment, and it runs less than +5 sec/day. Only complaint, mentioned in the comments below, is that bracelet link removal is very challenging.
I love that they shot them with bezels moved from the initial position so you don't see the misalignment (seems that these days Seiko cannot produce a single watch without these issues, and I am a "fanboy", owning over 50 of the older models).
No issues seems to be the exception these days on these models. And I am not talking about misaligned bezels or chapter rings which can be corrected, but stretched indices upon application. I saw people that no matter how they moved the chapter ring is still misalignment.
I really want one but don't want to pay double at local AD where I can inspect before buy. Strange enough lots of lowered priced Seiko 5 have no misalignments. Probably different production lines.
Just got this Tue first 2018 watch! Got lucky it lines up ! Really didn’t know of alinement problem it’s my first new Seiko ! I have collected for many years but old Seikos ! I like it so getting black version next .
Once again a failure on Massdrop's part to list availability. I would have bought yesterday if it would have been mentioned. Why they say it on some drops and not on others is beyond me. Just mention limited to 30 pieces of each version and you would probably sell out in hours not days. Then you can go to your vendors showing them your ability to sell stock quickly which in turn gives you more buying power next time around. Not real hard to figure out and you would think MD would have it nailed down by now.
Thanks for that but my gripe really wasn't about the $15-$20 savings . It's the fact MD picks and chooses when to give out quantities. It would only benefit them to publish how many are available as it would force people into buying on the spot.
Nope, the picture in question is navy blue and in a different lighting thus making it look black, the only black turtle issued was the 777 and it came with a rubber strap not a SS band FYI
Why is everyone getting so excited about this, the watch has always been quite easy to find online for similar pricing. Nothing unique here, bring in some grand Seiko' s pls
kjartBeen there before even on amazon. I'm sure it will get there again. 250 on ebay right now which is the same price as massdrop for me. Like I said, nothing to get excited about
I have my SRP on a strapcode super engineer II bracelet. It looks like a million dollars. Honestly. The curves of the case grab that light constantly. This is a great watch.
OldTimeRobMore like $300, but keep in mind Seiko MSRP's are always high. usually you take 30% off the MSRP to get the real price. So a $500 MSRP would be like $350 retail. The Turtles are all different though. The special edition ZIMBE was $830, but sold out instantly. The Pepsi/PADI is like $400-ish, and the rare Batman model is usually close to $500. The models I see here are usually in the $280-$350 range. I would estimate $300. The price here looks good.
SkipPpAgree w everything you state Above. This is a good deal. The posted msrp ive seen in other locations, I believe is $550, but yes the sale prices I've see. Are in the $250-$350 range. This is a great deal imo.
