A tiny digital audio player that’s getting a lot of attention on Head-Fi, the Shanling M1 offers commuter-friendly portability without sacrificing sound quality. It can play 192kHz/32-bit audio, supports DSD64 and DSD128 decoding, and comes equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 and aptX protocol. The housing, which measures just 2.4 by 2 inches, features an ALPS knob and a 2.35-inch TFT HD screen with clock functionality. Use the M1 as a DAP, a USB DAC, or a USB transport with a higher-end portable DAC/amp—it can even serve as a Bluetooth receiver. It weighs just over 2 ounces, delivers up to 10 hours of music between charges, and is available here in an eye-catching royal blue.
