Could anyone weigh in on the particular DAC chip? I've used Sabre 9018s and I really like the clean, detailed sound. I've also heard some Wolfson DACs, and I thought they were a bit veiled and dark.

xnobysChips are important, but I recommend against using them as indicators. Sound also depends on lots of other factors. You can have two DAPs with same chip but completely different sound.
