A simple, inexpensive way to improve the sound quality from your iPhone 7 or another iOS device, the SMSL Icon Lightning DAC/amp is built small to go everywhere you do. The compact housing has an integrated microphone, a metallic gray finish, and asymmetrical beveled edges for a hint of style Read More
Do not recommend. IMO it sounds the same or worse than the simple lightning to 3.5mm cable that you get with any of the new iPhones. So basically this is an expensive and chunky "DAC/Amp" that is worse than a simple adapter that you get for free.
ChadDubHey man is the K1 a better option than the (i think newer)A1 from Fiio? I'm in the market for an entry level dac for my iPhone.
Edit: Nevermind. I see now the A series are just amps, no DAC functionality.
This had potential to be absolutely amazing. It isn't though; im really disappointed.
for a start, how about better connectors? It keeps disconnecting and needs to be plugged in again constantly.
the app button on it really needs to be customizable to allow users to open their own choice of music player rather than the default SMSL one.
thanks for letting me down SMSL
This thing sucks. I hardly notice any difference in the sound. Just my 2c. The app is horrible and doesn't allow you to run anything streaming through it. If i'm not using the app am I not getting any benefits from this thing?
bvolunuevYou don't need to use the app, it appears to "work" with any audio app. But as you've noted, it sucks and there is no benefit no matter what you use. Unless of course your phone was too loud, in which case this thing is perfect. :-)
A matter of taste I suppose. That being said, I wasn't commenting on anyone's choices, just sharing my impression of the product. To me it's unattractive and boxy. As are most adapters, fwiw.
anyone know if any 2-in-1 lightning adapters exist that could be used with devices like this, so that you can charge and listen at the same time?
every single 2-in-1 adapter on ebay only has a single lightning port and one headphone port, whereas we would obviously need one that has 2 lightning ports
As someone who’s gone through multiple cheapo versions and finally spent the money on the Belkin one, it’s worth it. Never had any issues with it after many long commute hours of using it.
