The VMV A2 from SMSL is billed as a stereo amplifier, and while it does excel at driving even high-output speakers, it’s got a lot more going for it than just that. For starters, it pairs a high-powered stereo output chip with a premium DSP chip to provide up to 768-kilohertz, 32-bit resolution of PCM and support for Native DSD512. This amounts to a certifiable impressive harmonic distortion ratio of just 0.0008%. The A2 also delivers Bluetooth connectivity in spades, complete with high-end codecs including UAT, LDAC, and Qualcomm aptX—all with a keen ear toward maintaining high fidelity, even when listening wirelessly. It all sits in a beautiful CNC’d aluminum chassis found in much of the SMSL VMV A line of amplifiers that’s both eye-catching and expert at thermal performance. The whole setup is compatible with Windows, Mac OS, and even Linux, so your A2 can be grade-A in the versatility department as well.
