Yeah. So cancelled with no notification outside of this forum. Classy. Now I can't buy One for love nor money. Oh, and by the way, I NEVER RECEIVED A REFUND! Where's my money?!?!
Hey everyone,
We wanted to update you on the latest from our distributor, who has been in close discussion with the game's manufacturer.
The short version is this game is on short order everywhere and was printed at a much lower number than expected. We’re going to cancel this order and refund everyone in full rather than drag everyone along with an unknown fulfillment date.
The longer version is below.
For context, it sometimes happens with very popular games that the manufacturer will take initial orders beyond their capacity or they will continue to accept orders even after they have made the bulk order from the factory. Distributors will then accept orders based on the number they’ve been “allocated” from this order from the manufacturer. If they oversell then they get lumped into the next print run and receive their order when that completes manufacturing. However, because the distributors don’t know the exact order numbers by the manufacturer it can be impossible to know how many copies they will actually receive.
Because we are especially prone to getting impacted by our distributors having their order allocated we don’t like to accept preorder numbers above a certain percentage of our distributor’s total order. That way we can fulfill for our group even if they only receive half or even less of their planned shipment.
It seems that this game was hit especially hard however and distributors industry wide have been hit hard on having their orders allocated to a second print run. We’ve talked with some of our other distributors and some say they can have the order fulfilled, but they expect they are going to get their allocation in January.
We would like to express our deepest apologies on these delays in communication, there were events that were outside of our control which we had thought would not derail the drop as they ultimately have. If our distributors can get a 100% confirmation on a stock number than we will work to bring this back, but until then we don’t think it’s reasonable to have people waiting until some unknown date to have their orders fulfilled.
Refunds will be applied to your payment method within 1-3 business days. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out through your transactions page at https://www.massdrop.com/transactions
Henry_LThanks for communicating about what's actually going on! Sucks that this happened, but sounds like you guys did what you could and an unexpected situation came. Thanks for the info!
I know the feeling. I just saw these two games pop up and I thought it was a good way to save money. Now I'm kicking myself for not ordering them when they were in stock at other retailers for a tiny bit more. The extra $5 would have been worth it to actually get the product.
They did this with all my cancelled transactions....
I CAN CONFIRM that I received my refund for all three delayed/cancled drops. (Terraforming Mars, The Others, Great Zimbabwe).
Yes, that is totally shady of them deleting transaction history. (Or not displaying your true transaction history)
Regardless.... My money has been refunded. I'm outta here.
(mic drop)
Gruven_reuvenI'm not worried about my money going missing. Worst case, I'll file a chargeback with my CC company, and they'll ensure I'm not stolen from. I am extremely concerned about what appears to be a company taking full liberties with what should be considered a sacrosanct paper trail, simply because the paper is now bits stored on their computers. The only response I have received from Massdrop is an automated response saying essentially, "We're too busy to respond to you right now." Perhaps they'll enjoy saying that to the Federal Trade Commission.
Hi everyone, I contacted support about the drop directly to try an get some answers. Thought I'd share their response with you all.
"Hi Adrian,
Thanks for contacting Massdrop Support! I'm very sorry that the pre-order hasn't shipped out yet, and I understand your frustrations with not getting the answers you are wanting.
As to your product questions, unfortunately, we do not have the answers to provide you about the printings and the differences. Our Buying team does their best to include very detailed product information on the drop pages, but if you cannot find the answer you are looking for, we suggest heading over to the drop discussion (which I can see you have done, let's try directing your questions to the buyer) and asking the community!
Feel free to message the Buyer within the drop discussion using @DaveHoff and they will try to reach out (I've also reached out to the Buying team to give you the answers to your questions).
Since the order has been delayed, this is why our Logistics team has extended the option to cancel and receive a full refund. We do apologize for all the inconvenience that this has caused.
Kindest regards,
Jodi"
It seems they just don't know. Which is unfortunate.
SouthpawFor the record I asked the following questions:
a) When will it be shipping to us?
b) Which printing will be shipping?
c) What is the difference between the printings, if we aren't getting first printing.
d) What caused our mass order to not be included in the original orders/shipments?
The vendor is still working on getting a solid ship date for the Terraforming Mars Preorder. They have let us know that they will have a better update early next week. We will make sure to pass on any relevant news to the group as soon as we hear back.
We understand that the additional wait time is undesirable. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button in your transactions page (http://massdrop.com/transactions).
You can expect an update from us on 11/1 or sooner if something comes up.
If you have any questions, please visit our Help Center (http://massdrop.com/helpcenter).
I think it was Macro-F1. These bozos can't be bothered to type FOUR whole characters. ;-p
Seriously, MassDrop should hire some of us speed-typists to write REAL actual responses to let buyers know what is REALLY happening with orders. ;-)
We have reached out to the vendor and they are currently working on finalizing the shipping date for this order. We should have a more solid update by the end of the week. We will make sure to pass on any relevant news to the group.

elimelendezI think that it's time to name names. Who is this mystery "vendor"? What exactly did he do re. ordering product from Stronghold Games? Did he fail to actually order the product at all, and then tried to do so after all of the games had already been promised to distributors? OR WHAT?!? I've never been involved in a Group Buy where so little information was shared with the buyers. This seems extremely mickey mouse to me, but I don't want my money back... I just want the damn game that I PRE-ordered in order to have it before everyone else! Now, please get "the vendor"'s butt IN HERE to answer questions and explain himself.
