The new Exclusive Series from TFZ maintains the great value the company is known for—the kind of value that’s earned it a loyal following on Head-Fi and other audio forums. Plus, this series ups the ante with removable two-pin cables in every model Read More
As a non-audiophile, I don't quite understand the big difference between the different series, can anyone elaborate what differentiates these IEM's?
If I'm not springing for the Kings at twice the initial drop cost, is there any reason to not just buy the series 1's?
Thanks in advance for the lesson.
Would love to tell ya but I haven't heard their original Series series of earphones, just the new stuff. I'm guessing the Series 3 would be a fair bit brighter based on what I've read about their original lineup, so someone else would have to confirm that. Sorry mate.
TheContraptionistI don't want anything treble heavy like the kings, Glad I haven't bought any other IEMs since the Exclusive 5.
They are a little treble heavy but I just got eqMac2 and it makes every headphone sound so much better.
To help out any interested in these and who want to know the difference between the models, I've reviewed them all;

3 - https://thecontraptionist.blog/2017/07/03/tfz-exclusive-3-jack-of-all-trades/

The 1 is alright and sounds most like the top of the line King, but sans refinement and soundstage and with more bass. It's okay but the 3 is much better and definitely worth stepping up to. Smoothest sounding of the bunch with really slick mids. It's the best value of the group. The 5 feels the most premium with it's all-metal shells. It's has the biggest bass and fairly bright treble lying somewhere between the 1 and 3. It's mids aren't as forward at the 3 but are clear and unimpeded by other frequencies. It's my favorite of the lineup, even over the more expensive King. Hope this helps!
TheContraptionistI'll agree with your Exclusive 5 review, having now had mine for less than a day so far. However I actually don't find the 5's as very demanding to drive. My Nexus 5X handles it just fine, and my Dragonfly Black actually seems way too powerful. I have to put OS X's volume to it's lowest, and the application (SoundCleod, soundcloud desktop application) to near it's minimum in order to not blow my ears out. To me these seem like the perfect on the go/smartphone in-ears. Easy to drive, very good sound, doesn't take up a lot of space but also won't break the bank if you happen to lose them sometime. Although I'd be very sad to lose them.
Drizzt321Glad you're enjoying them! Maybe there was a misunderstanding? I don't find them tough to drive, just that they benefit from more power. Running them though my desktop amp versus a phone nets a nice bump in overall performance :)
K3YSI have both, but prefer the Nuforce. The Nuforce are a bit more comfortable with a better fit. The highs are clearer on the 5s, but the lows are better on the Nuforce.
DO NOT Purchase these IEM's, TFZ is a TERRIBLE company and their IEM'S are VERY poor quality. I purchased a TFZ Series 1s and they were absolutely dreadful. The ear tips are all uncomfortable, the sound is EXTREMELY muddy, they have minimal clarity and the highs were very sharp for some reason. The TFZ cables are also horrible, they absorb all the color from your clothes, are extremely plasticky, feels very cheap and is QUITE uncomfortable. There was almost no way to get mine replaced so I'd strongly recommend you stay far away from TFZ products.
MarzimanI haven't used the Series 1s but I've got the entirety of the Exclusive series in addition to the Series 4 and My Love II. Cheap is the last word I'd apply to these, including the cables which are some of the nicest you can find at the price point they sell. These models are tuned very differently than TFZ's earlier stuff too. Shouldn't generalize the entire brand off of one single experience with the cheapest model in the lineup. Just sayin'.
privilegedidiotthey arrived today, and having the kings and 5 side by side, it's hard to pick a favorite so far. seems the 5 has more bass, but a slightly more narrow sound stage. now to wait on the kinera's and p1's to arrive to compare and unload those that are least liked!
ZachLKZ ZS5 Wireless Bluetooth 4.2 Upgrade Cable HIFI Earphone 0.78mm 2Pin Cable Dedicated For KZ ZS ZS3 ZST ED12 Original Parts

Update: So i just got the bluetooth module today, although i would've had it yesterday but the srupid usps gave it to my neighbor that lives 5 houses down.
But for the product itself:
It works with the headphones
Doesn't sound terrible although, its a little muddy, and not as clear as my lgV20 .
But functionality wise this is what I needed.
If you want to have them Bluetooth you're going to sacrifice a little quality.
Though I think the pins are 75mm because they are like half the length of the 78mm pins on the cable that came with the headphones. But the bluetooth pins go in and stay in, doesn't seem like they'd fall out.
Be careful not to lose the micro usb charging cover on the unit itself. Because it's not connected to the unit, its an insert.
I also believe it has a built in microphone, haven't been avle to test that yet.
Comes with a quality micro usb charging cable also so im happy.
If you order it will probably take around 20 days, but don't count on that.
I'm sure more people would join this drop if Massdrop had bothered to include any information as to the differences between the different models. Especially in this price range, I'm sure many are wondering why they should spend the extra money, ~40% more for the Exclusive 3, ~70% more for the Exclusive 5, for what is essentially the same driver, albeit with different tuning & characteristics. I myself am not really in the market for these, but I do suffer from headphonitis & if I see an affordable pair of headphones/IEMs I may buy them if just to check them out. This is basically like Massdrop saying "Google That Sh*t" I'm a huge advocate for taking a little initiative and doing my own research, but there is no information provided in the description. It might help with the "what's the difference" posts that tend to clog up the discussions, not that I mind helping out if I can. This is directed more towards Massdrop. Just my 2 cents, thanks for letting me rant.
I know that Westone makes one but there are plenty of cheaper Chinese alternatives on places like Amazon. Just search for bluetooth headphone cable or bluetooth cable.
