As Massdrop just sent me an advertisement of this belt again even though i already bought it ill make sure no one else buys it,
Don't buy it, the leather quality is bad, the cooler is not accurate, the leather stretches , its thin ... Not worth the money The advertisement and the pictures are professionally made and it make it look like you buy something good but it is just not as it looks like on the pictures not to mention the quality

Albert.AI've been tempted by the pictures, but from the sound of it, it sounds worse than my $20 belts from H&M! Thanks for saving me some $$.

In picture num 6, the belt got "Geniune leather" on it. And in the description, it says best italian full grain leather. So, which one is right?

Genuine leather is a generic term for older and European maker, not bonded leather.

TheSmallPotato Very, very good, nicely written, concise and informative article from someone who obviously knows their leather (since they are in the industry). Everyone considering buying leather goods should read this beforehand. Anyone who's read it, do post it on any other leather goods Massdrops if you don't already see it posted - the more informed people are, the better their choices will be. Peace out.

This is not higher quality Full Grain leather as the description states. It is most certainly Genuine Leather and the description should be changed.
I bought the "black" one and as has been mentioned, it is a lighter black/very dark grey that appears to have been manually distressed.
Take a close look at pictures #6 and #7 for the best visual description. The back #6 shows the genuine designation, the front shows the distressing. I wish I would have paid more attention to those two pictures.

That is an excellent article.  I'm not saying that this is split or bonded leather and I can see how my post could be worded differently to avoid confusion.
It is indeed genuine leather as in it is actually leather.  Unfortunately (first world problem here) the leather used for the belt I have is poor quality (which is why I said not higher quality full grain).  It is approx 2mm thick, rough on the back with sharp edges (how is that possible?)  The artificial distressing has been poorly implemented, and the edges are poorly finished.
Please note that I also purchased the BBC Massdrop dress belt that is very high quality, and the main reason why I jumped on this drop.

NOT THE QUALITY I WAS EXPECTING!
I have received it, and it is not the quality I believed it would be, from the ad's descriptions. Firstly, it is too thin - only 2mm thick - that's NOT acceptable. And, it's also only 38mm wide, not the advertised 40mm which is what I wanted.
Secondly, the black is not black - it is grey, and the artificial distressing is amateurish at best.
Thirdly, it is NOT soft and supple, as the high-quality British belts I remember in my youth.
I am going to go out on a limb here, and attribute that to the poor-quality modern vegetable-based tanning processes.
It may not stink like the old tanneries, which used dog-excrement, but the final quality of this end product is far inferior.
There's something to be said for using the dog-excrement, in order to get the lifetime feel and durability of top-quality leather. Leather needs dog-excrement, in order to tan correctly.
So, I have applied DUBBIN, an animal fat-based product, which purpose is to soften and enhance the durability of leather goods, and after about 4 applications, there is an improvement in its feel and suppleness. I will continue to apply more Dubbin, until I might be satisfied with it, although I am not that confident that it will be possible.
The bottom-line - although vegetable-based leather tanning may be environmentally and politically-correct, it stinks for quality.
These are no better quality than the Chinese-sourced belts sold by Arab vendors in the Jerusalem Souq here, for less than US$10. I expected much, much better quality from a British company.
If you are looking for old-style quality, feel and durability, then these will definitely disappoint you. Pass on them.
If I'd bought this from a regular store, I would have returned it already for a full refund. Is Massdrop prepared to offer me that?

YachadMUPDATE Massdrop has refunded my purchase price. Thanks for your excellent service!
My final comments: Unfortunately I’ve generally found that when a vendor is given a bonus of quantity production, then quality control and attention to detail tends to suffer. And I’m certain that’s what happened in this case here.
Shortcuts were made in processing and finishing, in order to maximize profit, and get the order out the door ASAP. This is not a vendor from whom I would ever buy again.
If I’m going to lay out $50-80 on a high-quality leather belt, it had better exceed my expectations.

I have put a poll on this belt, which was recommended to me via a friend, who has owned one for over 20 years. http://leathergoodsconnection.com/brlebe.html

The belt size is spot on but it's hideous as someone mentioned here, the black belt isn't black its grey and when you bend the belt it changes color to almost white grey (very noticeable) and the leather quality I just don't know how to describe it maybe it's good but not for the purpose it's made, it's very soft and strechy ... After I wore it twice the belt deformed , it's not not straight anymore and the holes stretched as well, basically it does not hold it's shape...

Guys just get a belt from Koch Leather or LM Leather or any other seller on Etsy. I know that both Josh Koch and Tyler from LM use Horween leather so you know it's not from China. I bet you the belts are only assembled in England and the leather imported from China. These are sewn so you can't even change the buckle if you want. My advice is spend an extra $20 and get a 'proper' belt from a reputable seller. These are nowhere near the $75 recommended price.

Anything that says "Genuine Leather" you stay away from.

cagenutsThe description also states that it is full-grain leather. I have a few of their belts (though not this one, because it’s ugly as sin) and have been largely satisfied. They aren’t the best belts out there, but they are fine for the price.

How is it possible that this drop is going to ship a month before another drop by the same company, that was 2 months earlier? If you didn't have the original June drop people pissed off enough already, this should certainly do the trick!

chizchizMy best guess would be that the previous drop for the Harness was a Massdrop collab, which are made to order while this is a readily available model.
I see British Belt Co on Massdrop all the time. Given the reviews and the negative discussion, I have to ask why? I don't mind paying for quality but based on the feedback, these belts are NOT good quality! Can we get some decent quality leather belts?
