Just got a pair of these, would recommend 2 days of burn in time before judging. I let a pair run on an old clock radio and it made a difference with the treble smoothing out. Didn't work a miracle, but I have them on now plugged into a Khadas tone board and Magni Heresy and if my main headphones ever fail, I could live with these for a while. Soundstage is really nice for someone used to wearing closed backs. They take an amp well, am at 50 percent volume on low gain on the Heresy and not overly loud, and they sound better than anything except the Sennheiser Momentum buds. Wired is nice for going out and not worrying about them hitting the pavement too.
The VE Monk is the earbud that got me interested in this whole high fidelity earbud market. If anyone would like to read my thoughts to date on venturing into the rabbit hole you can find them here: https://www.modioaudio.co.uk/blog/an-ode-to-earbuds
Attn. When you order this from outside the US you might run in to problems with customs. I at least did when I ordered from Sweden. Apparently it got sorted out to manual handling because it had a weird item description, that will say "Monk Midnight Blue". I will therefore have to wait a while for it to arrive at my house. If you guys at Drop could make the item description more clear on the packaging it would probably help out future buyers a lot!
MathewsmaxWhen this originally released; there was an option for the base model (the one being sold now), one with an in-line mic, and one with a braided cable (it might have had a mic).
Seems like the base model with no microphone is the only one available now.
At first I wasn't impressed. Bass sounded muddy and not well defined (I know it's not its forte but it was getting in the way rather than taking a back seat). But once I let it burnin/ let my ears get used to the sound, I'm appreciating it a lot more. These earbud do mids very well for the price.
bearzI've been with them for almost 1 year, I've thrown them away, they've fallen out and they're still intact. You just had bad luck. I recommend them 100%
