Awesome! I'm really impressed by all the details which go towards making this work. It has a kind of "sipping chamber" in the spout which is very nice to drink from. It's easy to clean too.
Being Japanese, it has an unbelievable quantity of instructions and warnings, even a label telling you not to remove the other warning label. Peel 'em all off, but do read the instructions. Partly to show your respect for the designers, but also so you can appreciate all the features and how to use them, to make sure you have hot coffee in the afternoon and not in your bag or your lap.
I'm drinking vac-pot brew from it as I write this.
Received one of these as a gift several years ago and when they became available on Massdrop, I bought several as gifts for others. It keeps beverages hot longer than any other thermos/mug I've used (and I've used many). The best performance, travels well, and easy to clean.
It's a pretty good tumbler, love the colors. Works well in keeping the temperatures. I don't like how many parts there are too it, and how thick the plastic is for drinking as these really get in the way of just using a sponge to clean with (I have to get me straw cleaner out to get the mouth piece as clean as possible). Some Starbucks tumblers are very easy to clean compared to this and hold temps just as long (that's what I was hoping to upgrade from).
Does exactly what one expects out of a travel mug: Keeps drinks warm/cold for a lenght duration, doesn’t leak, and has efficient one-hand operation for opening/closing. Durability is substantia, too.
Not as good as I hoped it would be. Qualitywise it's quite good and actually suprised me. On the other hand it's bulky and hefty for a mug that doesn't quite hold half a liter. That being said, after some light use, water started to drip from the seams of the cap. On this issue I'm still giving the Zojirushi some points just beacuse the mug dropped 50 cms to the floor. Still , if that's all it takes for a mug like this to drip water, well then it just isn't a good mug at all.
Well I read all the very positive reviews everywhere I could find them. The mug is no where as good as anyone says. It doesn’t keep the drink any hotter or for any longer than any other travel mug. This is the second Zojirushi product I’ve purchased and it too had great reviews that the product didn‘t live up to. Back to the mug, like I said, it didn’t live up to the hype but the colors are so pretty and if you look at them long enough you will end up with an over priced average travel mug. Look away.
I am a big fan of Zojirushi products, and have extensively used their thermos which uses a similar locking-spillproof design. They excel at keeping liquids cold or hot and are easy to clean throughout which is important if you add milk or sugar or use other liquids likely to stick in nooks and crannies. The Zojirushi products excel in their ease of effective cleaning.
OK. Here's the problem. Their gasket seals on this product has a tendency to loosen and then fall off when unscrewing the top. If you take your mug to a coffee shop for them to fill, this loss can happen easily and without you noticing...until you lock the latch and put the mug in your bag....where it will proceed to empty its contents into your bag and soak your papers, books etc., or if you store on the outside of your bag, then you may feel something warm or even hot running down your shirt and pants as you bike along your commute.
The mug should come with clear warnings about the seal and with two replacement seals. Mine is now unusable.
Just tipping it to drink from turns it into a dribble mug that'll ruin your nice shirt or blouse.
