Product Description
Delivering on both quality and value, the Zorloo ZuperDAC was a big hit with the Massdrop community—and now, the Zorloo ZuperDAC-S takes things up a notch. It’s 40 percent lighter than the original (important for a portable DAC/amp) and boasts the addition of hardware volume buttons Read More
Hi, everyone, I am Andy Ho from Zorloo. I am very sorry for the cancellation as we made a mistake on the production quantities and won't be able to fulfill in the mentioned time period. It is our fault not to have caught on earlier before the drop launch. In order not to disappoint everyone in a delay shipment, we decided it is better to cancel this drop and host it when a firm delivery schedule is in place. We are catching up with a new production batch and should be ready soon. Please stay tuned.
hunkichunkiNo. A proper replacement allows charging of the phone while using the aux port.

An even better non-existent replacement would allow plugging in mini-digital-coax into the aux port.
Or even better than that, don't strip the aux-port from the phone in the first place, and add another trace on the motherboard so it can be used as a "mini-digital-coax out" too.
i have one (well two) from their kickstarter. It's not a very powerful amp, but is a decent DAC. The chip includes an amp section that is good enough for efficient headphones - they sound clean and quite neutral to my ears. If you need plenty of power, this isn't for you. IMO this is a match for people on the go, laptops, tablets, and phones, devices that usually skimp on audio section, that kind of thing. a lot of power does not make sense here. besides it will be obviously much less portable, it will drain the battery really fast.
Hi All:
The Old Audiophle here. As usual, I'll start by saying I have a very high end speaker based system in a purpose built room, properly set up.
I purchased the original Zuper Dac from Massdrop last year and found it an incredible device and was so cheap. After a few listening session, I immediately told a number of freinds that also purchased it and bought two more for my sons to enjoy. For comparison, it sounded much better than the Nuforce 3, SMSL QS pro, Blue Sound streamer and even the Explorer 2 (not in MQA though - MQA on the Explorer is really special). Only the Nuforce DAC 80 sounded better. Of the 8 or so Zuper Dacs purchased, non have had any problems so no concern on build quality.
A couple of months ago, I found out about the Zuper Dac S (this one) through a crowd funding site and decided to give it a try. To tell the truth, I was not expecting much of an improvement becasue the original Zuper Dac was so good. For an inexpensive dongle based device, how much better could they possibly make it?
WELL!!!!
The new Super Dac S is significantly better than the original. There is better definition and space, with a significant improvement in weight and clarity of base. I took it to two of the freinds that I recommended the original to and we listened. In both cases the difference was heard in the the first 2 seconds of listeneing. One of the systems was an audiophile system and the other in a more midfi type system.
At $59 there is no need to agaonize about buying this. DO IT!! It is still a dongle, USB only dac so that may be a limit that does not work for you but if you need a USB only dac. Don't wait.
I just finished buying two more and getting onthe phone to various people that need a usb dac.
PS, Don't know if it is USB C but if you need to know, just email Zoorlo.
Yep, the Iniegogo crowd funding. Delivered two or so weeks ago and paid $49 as a first level funder. They went for a second level that are awaiting delivery but I think it went for the same $59. Anyway, buy it. It's really good.
The current drop comes as follows, and I really had hoped it would include a lightning cable, to better support the iOS phones, the overview suggests this device supports.
INCLUDED
USB Type C to micro-USB cable
Micro-USB to micro-USB cable
Micro-USB to USB A cable
Zorloo has a lightning cable, according to it's site. I'd even pay an additional fee if it could be included as an option to this drop. @Drop, do you think you can source a lightning cable to add here? $37 + $6-8 perhaps???
I just received mine. The DAC only outputs the left channel. Tried this on my phone, computer, and laptop with my Sennheiser 6xx and Hifiman 4xx, which work fine. Unplug the left channel and the right has zero sound at all. I think I got a lemon.
Update: MD did refund the cost of the DAC... completely no fuss.
However, despite being defective, the sound it had was nice and clean, so I took another chance on the latest drop. Just took it out of the packet and listening now... both channels are working and sounds super clean on a very sensitive IEM :)
FWIW, I bought this from the Indiegogo campaign and I am quite pleased with it. It sounds excellent. It is an improvement over the previous ZuperDAC, which I also had. That said, my previous ZuperDAC died after only a few months, so I hope they've improved the longevity of their product. To be fair Zorloo's support was great even though it meant sending my broken ZuperDAC to Hong Kong for them to send me a replacement. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this product to a friend.
aNdR3.sI've taken calls on my iphone using a pair IEM's without a mic, the regular handset mic filled the role. I've not tried this with my android or with an iphone+DAC as I don't use that phone much for music listening. Not much of an answer but basically (it SHOULD work).
