Was hoping that this drop will come back a few weeks back. But with that 50 dollars hike I am not so sure whether to commit.
Sure they might be phenomenal but knowing that past drop cost only 450 and with the same "complimentary" module, making it seems like I am paying 50 dollars for the "complimentary" module given free for the past drop.
I'm very interested in the U5s as I'm aiming to get some neutral sounding in-ears. But, are they sibilant on the highs? And do they pair well with iPhone or laptop as a source? Or should I invest on a DAC and Amp as well? My dual BA IM02s paired well with them, and I don't know how it can handle 5 BAs though
Additionally, this is going to be my true high-end purchase for the first time, so I really need to make sure.
I typically enjoy Audio Technica's house sound, and how different are your house sound compared to theirs? For the U5s I'm expecting the highs to be clear as day, but whether it'll be so bright it's sibilant, I'm not sure. And how does the vocal go with these? I'm more into something that's smooth and refined, but detailed. As for bass presence I don't mind it being a tad low, but I don't want it to be weak as well. Perhaps the U4s would be the better option? But seeing the charts on the official website, it seems to me like the vocals are going to be especially dark. I don't think I'd like that. Can someone confirm for me how's the mids on these 2 like?
I'm sorry if I'm not very clear, but I hope I can find an answer here before i commit. It's a pretty big purchase for me (and I believe a lot of others as well
I purchased it used in Japan for 44900yen (no box, no fabric pouch. just the cable).
It's a hybrid 8-wire cable of silver gold, silver plated copper and copper conductors, as stated by a respectable reviewer on Head-Fi.
You can read more about it here: https://www.head-fi.org/f/showcase/labkable-master-series-takumi-iem-cable.21294/reviews#review-15113
It's a thing of beauty, both in terms of sound signature and craftsmanship.
It is asius' bad play on their part for criticizing the apex modules with little to no testing at all, but I also find it peculiar how 64 Audio never really released how the apex modules worked and how they differed from the ADEL modules until the report released just last month...?
And if 64 Audio does claim they do have a significant effect in protecting the eardrum from pneumatic pressure and decreased occlusion, I think it'd be wise of them to at least post some validating data to support their claims...
just a thought.
DicloneusI think the reason behind 64 Audio did not publish any validating data to support there claim is because they themselves(64 Audio) has insufficient data to prove there claim.
FluffyberrySee, Jomo's pretty interesting, but checking their website, it was said that the sound tuning is V-shaped. I don't know how V-shaped it would be, but I'm not so into that sound sig tbh
That said, if I were to order some customs, it'd be from them in the future, only if they have the warm or neutral sounding ones
Ya. No doubt the price tag already tells u which one is better haha. All I wanna know is how much the X can achieve. As it's only half price of the U4. I gonna drive it with my Dragonfly Red.
ArcherYCI'm currently listening to my new Noble X's as I type this (received today). The Nobles sound great, for $250. However, my U4-SE's still edge out fairly noticeably in clarity. That's expected with more BA's to flesh out the mids. I'm finding more of the frequencies are swimming together on the X's which gives them the sense the music is a little more distant. The U4's sound like you're closer to the source.
At this point, I believe the difference between the Noble X's and 64audio U4-SE's is a matter of how far down the audiophile rabbit hole you're willing to go. For me, unfortunately (or fortunately), my rabbit hole is now never-ending, as I will forever be chasing the "perfect IEM". Nonetheless, I have to agree with the recent InnerFidelity review of the X's that they are quite fun, warm, and will make the more casual audio fan smile. However, the U4-SE's make me giddy every time I listen to them. Good luck!
I've always loved iems but never could afford a serious pair, the planets must have aligned for me finally at 59. This old retired drummer will enjoy the U4SE I think....do they need time to run in, play in, burn in?
Thank you Audio64 for making this possible!
hey eclein.
hope you're having some great time with your U4-SEs.
just had an epiphany moment and wanted to share it with you and @RM44 .
try out final's Etype eartips. They allow more space for the highs and mids to extend further, providing a much wider and spacious soundstage much equivalent to a pair of semi-open circumaurals.

Total cost for this drop after tax (CA) for me is $536.24. This drop intrigues me, but total cost makes me hesitant to pull the trigger. I can also get Campfire Audio Jupiter (B-Stock) as mentioned in this tread for $549. Not much of a price difference, so it makes it that much harder to decide. I listen to mostly instrumental, jazz, and vocal music. Which product would best suite my music taste? Thanks in advance for your advice.
The HD800s SHOULD keep you more than satisfied for some time. Obviously the Jupiter may not compete, but we're talking about full-size headphones vs IEMs. I haven't heard the IE800, but I do listen to a large variety of music genres and I find the Jupiter handles them all really well. Bass is present when called for, vocals are crisp. Much like the HD800S does for you, the Jupiter more than satisfies my current lust/frenzy for "the next better" IEM. I don't even want to count how many headphones/IEMs I currently own.
Excited to read this. I have some Jupiter bstock arriving tomorrow. The Andromeda is more than I want to spend on an IEM, plus the sound sig of the Jupiter on paper seems up my alley. Guess I'll know for sure in 24 hours.
