InsanepagenHaving had used its K240 Studio brothers, I most DEFINITELY agree! 😉 A good Amp is mandatory to get the best out of these. I have also used the K701/2 and I have found both to be dreadful, totally lacking in Bass response. I preferred the K240 by far...
Not quite true. The Spec sheet is misleading. The Impedance value is only half of the story. Its sensitivity rating is rather poor at only 91 Db/mW/1Khz and this if anything is even more crucial than the Impedance figure. Remember, this is an evolution, not a complete redesign, of the rather old technology of the Original K240, harking back to the middle 1970s. No miracles possible! 😏
NikosKardYeah, shipping to Australia used to be $18 on previous drops, now it's shot up to $32.
I guess it must be the new lead boxes they're shipping them in to protect the headphones from the fall-out of North Korean nuclear missiles...
Damn you, damn you to hell Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un!
So what's the deal with "semi" open back? I heard about the benefits of open back but I'm a bit of an audio noob. Would these be a good purchase, anyone?
mcsmith1981Thank you for your question man. I kind of figured I'd get someone like "killz4gold" as the only reply on a question. I have nice earbuds, but never really got into the business of headphones. I wasn't sure about the semi-open thing either. So thanks for the question and I wish you well. Oh, and fuck that guy.
jeez all the people bitching about intl. deals should just find a place from their country who does stuff like this or shut up... its getting old... We know you guys in canada don't get a very good deal.. stahp... the prices are as low as they can get... No amount of bitching is going to change it...
I mean they do their best. Its no fault of theirs that your country's exchange rate sucks and you have to pay import tax... I mean it just means your country already has whatever it is for a good price,already...
If anyone has trouble with bass response on these, I did find that the bass was pretty thin out of the box but it opened up a lot (about 6-9dB) after a couple weeks of normal use.
These are great headphones, probably some of the best open backs you can get for the price. I've had them about 10 months now and they're holding up well. I put on beyerdynamic EDT770 velour pads and an aftermarket 1.5m cable and I use them every day. They do benefit from an amp when used with mobile devices, they can sometimes sound a bit congested on busy tracks without it. I use the Topping NX2 when I use these with my iDevices. My 2009 MacBook Pro seems to handle them well enough without an amp though.
I don't mind that the headphones are taking forever to arrive, but i do mind that it said the phones would be delivered on the First of November, and i bought them thinking it at least wouldnt be more than 2 to 4 business days later than that. I'm dissapointed in that, please dont provide a date of delivery on your site if there's the possibility of it being so worng. Thanks for the deal and discount though.
The original comment is referring to the price of M220 on US Amazon. If he wasn't living in the US, it would make little sense to compare the price from there to that of this drop.
Bulk order shipped! The vendor informed us that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey. Based on the tracking provided, the order is scheduled to arrive on 11/4.
Expect another update from us on 11/8 or sooner if something comes up.

Just got mine and wow. Just wow. I am in love. They weigh like 1/5 of my old headset so my neck muscles are also digging em. Overall, if you are casual and want high-end, this is for you. If you are pro these would be your Medium to Lower Medium range headphones. Definitely good enough to not be low end for pros. Look, feel, sound, weigh, and "Feel" great.
{Edit: Hey so for those who think I am wrong please explain why as I am new to "Professional Sound and Audio". Coming from [Sades SA-708] this is definetly an upgrade for me as I have larger ears (not that much but slightly bigger than those of my friends). Also the "Cheap" quality that I am seeing of its platics is slightly upsetting but atleast I don't have a full on weight on my neck that presses on my ears like the jaws of life on a car door.}
Faunscepeople always mistakenly associate weight with quality. There are countless cases of counterfeit goods where they put sand and rocks inside and people claiming them being "excellent quality"
FaunsceI definitely appreciate the lighter weight of AKGs, in fact AKGs have been my primary headphone for 5 years... but I wouldn't say weight is the whole story in comfort. My Sennheiser PX-100 Are smaller and lighter, but, even before the earpad foam padding wore thin and the hard drivers started touching my ears, they weren't comfortable for long time periods. Same story with my very light Stax SR-X mk III. However, I finally bought a pair of Sennheiser HD800s with tax return money, and I would say they are more comfortable than my AKG K612 and K712. The HD800 is a little heavier (still wouldn't be in the same class as a HiFiman or Audeze), but it has a wide headband pad with a divot right where the point/crest of my head is, and the huge earpads make sure nothing touches my ears while also spreading the perfect clamp pressure over a large surface area.
Are these the same as the K240's? I think the K240's may have been the worst headphones I have ever listened to. To be honest I have yet to hear a decent pair of AKG's.
ZooskiThe more famed AKGk240's are the old classic ones, referred to as sextett's made in the 1970's ; which are then differentiated into early production / mid production / late production. Very different from the AKG k240 studio's (or MK II's ) of recent times. In between that was also the AKG k240 DF, and I think M. Which did you listen to ?
