I loved the sound of these from the moment I listened to them to the moment they stopped working, which was only a few months. My recent experiences with "off-brand" earbuds (these and the Helms, the latter of which fell apart after I used them once), solidifies for me the notion that small batch artisan gear may not be the smartest way to go. Despite the potential quality of the sound, the design and build of the gear is below acceptable and likely will put an end to the momentary joy you may be receiving. With the Helms, DROP could not replace them because they did not have any more stock so they refunded my money (except for $7.00 that they kept in the process). With the Akoustyx S-6, I can't even find evidence on the DROP site that I bought them (I assure you I did) so I have no way of requesting service or satisfaction. I have bought lots of gear from established companies like Sennheiser, Etymotic, Shure, beyerdynamic, and Koss (to name a few), and have always been satisfied with the quality of the sound and the build. The gear from Akoustyx, Helm, and uDuoo (a TA-10 headphone amp that I bought on DROP has a defective design which does not mute the output until the amp stabilizes - like all good amps do - and it fried my Audeze LCD-3s, which resulted in a $600 repair on the cans) is just not reliable, and you are taking a chance. A look back on the good gear I have bought that is still working versus the cheaper gear that is not has convinced me to stick with the established manufacturers. Otherwise, let the buyer beware.

Akoustyx has an active support staff--I'd be reaching out to them for warranty support first and foremost.

asigalI did and they helped me out willingly. I agree with you that they are active in helping their customers and are forthright with their polidies. Not like the hocus-pocus service from Drop.

Can anyone compare these to the ER2S or ER 3S?

A very interesting IEM that only a few will appreciate. It is an acquired taste. Here's a link to my review: https://youtu.be/J6Ip0PVoUT4

This is a superb iem - at $129 it is a steal. I have tested quite a few planars but this one has the best driver and a fantastic, natural timbre. There is only one downside: it is a bit bright in the upper mids, which can be remedied with eq...this iem is the only one I bother with eq. Read more...

The best Planar IEM available in the market under $200. Excellent balance, superb details, has one of the best sub-bass body and extension. Not V shaped and treble isn't sharp or thin like Either Dunu Talos or Shuoer S12. Has better tonality and timber that these two too. Doesn't need powerful source to sound good. Stage is slightly smaller than S12 but S-6 has Z axis presence which no other IEM has in this price. Fit is okay, cable definitely could have been better, but this IEM makes it up with it's excellent tuning. One of the best IEMs to have.
