Outdated 6 year old player is offered for $415. Why?

rumata13It still sounding wonderful and deadly silence, working with full size audiophile cans without compromise, plus storage option for those not do the streaming and without internet on plane, still worth the money if you can fully utilize it! Just My 2 cents.

Is it just me, or does this look like a tiny washing machine?

Elzizolol. Just don't get brainwashed into getting it.
For $500, it's definitely good value. Here's my (old) video review of it.
(Edited)
I had it 5 years ago, and it was almost Hugo 1 good. It's large, so not truly very portable. The amp is very good, but the DAC is a bit flat-sounding, typical of ES9018 designs. It works best left plugged into a computer on your desk, as it has auto-shut-off built in. If you can put a sufficiently large M2 SSD in it, then it makes for a reasonable transportable music solution. If you want something truly portable, I'd go for a Mojo or xDSD for preference now.
CurrawongTo add to the comments now, I'd probably get a FiiO M11 for preference, if anyone is on the fence deciding whether to spend the money on a DAP or not. I do wish they'd make a newer version though, as the form factor makes for a great desktop DAC/amp.

Just found out that this is a discontinued device, and Aurender's Windows drivers are obsolete, do not work, and will not be updated. Leaving this here in case this drop is listed again - beware!!! I've emailed Massdrop to return mine. Horribly disappointed.

strumbringerThe new versions of Windows require the drivers to be digitally signed. I've emailed the support and I got the updated driver v4.13 You can download it here:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PCstbHQlbkVN6XNn_IRQucArfFB3NTzc/view?usp=sharing

Bought not at the Drop but almost at the Drop price. I am not lucky enough to live in the USA, in my country (Ukraine), the last sold unit (mine) went for about 600 bucks. Consider delivery (about $40) and taxes (about $100) and that what we have. It is truly a bargain at this price, no doubts. Few impressions in brief:
  • the build quality and design are absolutely perfect;
  • the device supports all formats you can encounter in your real life;
  • the sound quality is awesome (dead black background, perfect macro, and micro details, incredibly balanced lows, mids and highs, stunning dynamic, realistic and immersive stage) - I do believe it sounds for every penny from it $1295 initial MRSP (even in 2020).
The very first piece of music I ran through my new Aurender Flow and my most expensive headphones in possession Klipsch HP-3 (also bought on sale, $888 instead of $1199 initial MRSP) was a Duetto 'Dunque io son' (Rosina, Figaro from Rossini's 'Il Barbiere di Siviglia' with inimitable Kathleen Battle, Placido Domingo; Red Book FLAC). Not being a very sensitive or neurotic person I literally broke in tears from such immersive opera-listening experience :)

Can someone explain the purpose of this device? Does not seem like worth the price even after the discount. Also, mSATA storage in an audio player? Is anyone trying to play a complete 500 MB flac song in flat one second?
CaptainNemo412This device is a few years old and was targeted as a portable music server as well as a DAC/Amp. The same function can be obtained through other means but this was a high-quality all-in-one solution. IIRC this predates the chord Hugo (gen1) by a few months. Similar idea but this one includes storage options. Update: The first part of this review covers the niche market this little bugger was designed for http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/aurender-flow-dacheadphone-amp/
