"All-metal Japanese quartz movement" - sh*t description in most cases meaning sh*tty watch company.
Don't buy watches from company that hide movement type, they doing this because they think you are stupid people.
Trustworthy watch company clearly describe movement type!
Dizz_czWhat do you expect for a $50 watch? This is a solid, workhorse of a watch for the price. I have had one for quite some time now and at $50 dollars it’s a tough watch for just what it says, the field. It’s a duty watch. It’s going to take a beating, but if it gets lost and destroyed, you didn’t break the bank on it.
You expect swiss movement at that price? You won’t get it. And if you paid for better movement, you shouldnt be taking it to the field.
Edit: I am actually wearing it right now.
I'd hate to be the bearer of bad news but every brand out there (exception to in house $$$ watches like Patek, AP, Rolex, GS, other "in house" movements) is built in china. China makes what? 98% of all watch parts in the world? 'Swiss Made' doesnt mean anything anymore. My Citizen eco drive counts better time and has better fit and finish than my 'Swiss Made' Victorinox.
Enough snooping around on this site and you can find several links that will say just about every watch has most their parts made in China. Even Swatch, which is impressive for a assembly line watch manufacturer to cut costs in parts.
Maybe this is a throw away kinda watch, like Swatch. But it looks pretty nice for $50. Unless you buy a Timex or a Seiko, you wont find anything cheaper. I find it unfair to compare this to the usual suspects of outsourced watch companies, MVMT, Daniel Wellington, 5th.
I won't lie, I'd buy one but I'm a 2 watch kinda man at the moment. But, I also think Timex is a good brand for it's money, so what do I know.
Illinois_knife_guyTimex is a fine brand nothing wrong with it. I mean even swatch (which stands for second watch) started out basically implying that their watches were meant to be a trendy item. They were meant to be disposable fashion items. They collaborated with pop culture icons and artists and created products that are actually becoming very collectible.
I mean they basically started the 'fashion watch' business which has devolved into DW, MVMT, MKs, and etc.
Timex has its own standing in the horological timeline.
WatchyoutalkingaboutActually, I say screw that! The very fact that MD is only offering four watches, in the number two department on the site, IS SOMETHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT! Particularly on the same day they're offering no less than FIFTEEN damn different headphones in the Audiophile Community!!! Evidently the buyer on that side of the building can find more product to offer than the buyer on the Watch side of the building?
Now I ask you, in the whole wide-world, who believes there are actually more damn headphones for sale, than there are watches for sale?!!!
I don't think we have a watch problem, I think we have a pastry problem!
All that may be true, but...
MD never falselyrepresents anything; they simply misstate the facts.
They’ve been doing it for years so it falls upon us to trust, but verify ;- )
People like to make fun of this watch company becasue they 1) have the same name as a popular pizza chain from New York and 2) they think becasue the name is Italian but are made in the States that they are somehow pulling a fast one.
I guess those are acceptable knee-jerk reactions?
I've owned one of their A-2T Titanium field watches for ages now. Amazing watch for the money. Still going on the original battery, the band is still going strong (I wash it every so often). Keeps perfect time. I was worried the Night Illumination would eventually wear off, but it still works fine. Glass is amazingly scratch free so far (I think I've just been lucky not to scratch it though) .I have no reason to believe this watch won't last for many more years to come.
astrooooI have the same watch and its one of my favorites even though it's quartz. I think the reason that the crystal doesn't get scratched is because it's recessed and protected by the bezel (mine is also completely scratch free). And for whatever reason all the scratches that I see on the case tend to add character instead of looking like blemishes. Overall great watches and more people should give them a chance.
These have pretty long lugs, like a Hamilton does, so buyer beware that it may fit larger than the case width might seem. A better measurement, which is clearly diagrammed at Bertucci's website, is the lug-to-lug measurement.
Also, I have the A-1S (in white) and I adore it. I wear it as my beater, and it is tremendous.
I'll pass on this one because 40mm is a bit large for my dainty wrists, but to anyone wondering, Bertucci punches way above its price tag...
DanTreviewNo way this watch is 40mm, in my view this is very misleading & has been falsely advertised by DROP. Its 36mm at best, I purchased 5 of them as gifts, the only good thing is the Nato strap & the MSRP they suggested was incorrect as youbcan buy them all day long for $55 - DX3 Model.
wonbulYou don't have to use NATO straps exclusively, there are countless two-piece strap options available for fixed bars - either bought open ended which you then glue or close with the built-in staples, or the clip type which are folded over at the end and just clip over the bars (more efficient than they sound) or aviator style which close with a screw.
As per Bertucci website and few other references the similar watch sold everywhere as the "DX3 Field Watch".
Today, this watch sold for $40-$50 at Bertucci website "bargain cave"! I give MD a prize for clever use of words in advetrising tactics! The DX3 "Performance" Field Watch heh...?!
VAS007Dude a quick comparison of your photo of the DX3 Field and the massdrop photos of the watch here show they aren't the same watch.
It's all in the details...
ZackadThe previus post by "Endoverend" explains it all. There isn't much in the details posted by MD. From past experience there is always something finicky in the MD item specifics.
