Audeze EL-8 is the 1st that come to mind for me.
In the dynamic section there is a lot of choice.
Hifi-Man offers a few headphones but, Open back.
I would be intrigued to try them tho, not counting these out. What turns me off is that I find the utterly UGLY....
Wow, did not even plan to get these, but I googled them from here and freaking Walmart.com had one pair left for $76.88, so I snatched them. Hope they're worth it. I have AKG K712'S, 6XX, HE 598SE's, and a few more mid fi pairs. Hope these are a nice compliment, and get me to listen to something other than the K712's for a change..Also just ordered the 4xx, so hopefully a good summer of jamming awaits.
Question: Is the connection on the HP receptor (in the HP cup) 3.5" stereo? I just acquired an iOS-to-3.5 cable/mic/DAC that sounds great when jacked into the 3.5" receptor on the Oppo PM-3. Hoping it would work with one or more of these options.
PDC33.5mm should work with the Blue Lola at least -- not familiar with the jack in the Mix-Fi (the MoFi, which it replaced, had a very proprietary, narrow 2.5mm jack that went into the headphone, Mix-Fi might have fixed that but not sure), and uncertain about the other models.
Mo-Fi are listed as "Also Great" along with the Oppo PM-3 and PSP M4U 1 for Wirecutter's Best Over-Ear Headphones. If @trellus says Mo-Fi and Mix-Fi are the same, than it's a discount off Amazon prices (prices are listed in the article)
