Ok- how do returns/replacements work? Mine is super gritty and sticks when trying to rotate the action (so bad I have to disassemble it.
Will try lube- but know this shouldn't be this way.
Ayyyy all! I have a black anodized Boker Plus Tactical CAL .45 I got from a similar website to MD about two years ago, if you have any questions feel free to reply to this and I'll answer to the best of my ability. Mine was gritty when I first got it, but I disassembled it (a little difficult to re-install the first time), but it was intuitive and wasn't overly engineered. I shot it with some Hoppes #9 once and it worked great for a long while. I rotate it with my other EDC pens, but with pocket lint comes grit. Meh. My fingers are getting stronger.
After the first ink cartridge ran out, the cheapest replacements were like, >$1.50/ea, so I fashioned my own. I grab any click-to-operate ballpoint pen that will fit through the writing shaft and cut it down to the length of the original cartridge, then add a bit of tape to seal off the goopy ink. I've added new ink probably ... a dozen times now, and it works like a charm. I LOVE THE INTEGRAL CLIP, it grabs well, it never falls out of my pocket or my portfolio - warning though, it will not bend, so forget putting it on the clip of a clipboard/through any paper/folder you don't mind getting a 'dent' in.
I added a rubber gasket so it wouldn't unscrew the writing tip while carried. I also stretched the spring to lengthen it so it's a stronger, more satisfying bolt action. Both DIY bits work great. Overall, I love it. This Ti one is the same length (Boker makes two sizes, this is the smaller of the two), it fits well in my hand and I always get comments. (Usually to stop clicking it in a meeting or that it's too loud). Haters gonna hate.

KilsimivI feel like a pen this expensive shouldn't require the kind of work that you put into it to achieve what you achieved. It certainly sounds like a great design, but if you have to lubricate it and add a rubber gasket, I feel like it could probably use better QC at this price point.
don't bother with this pen, i have one, the LAMY refills needed for this pen are terrible, they don't write. i ordered multiple refills in hoping to get one that works, and after confirming with others online that have the same problem, its just a bad design from them. What makes this worse is that the LAMY M22 is the only refill that fits this pen, so you're left with a light wallet and a useless pen. TBH i don't really think this pen should be offered on massdrop anymore given that it's pretty much non-functional.
These catch my eye every time they hit Massdrop, but the comments in this discussion are alarming.
I don't have a problem with spending $70 on a pen like this, but I would expect it to be at least as functional as the 7 dollar F-701 I've had for 10 years.
Has anyone actually received one that lives up to the quality that is advertised?
Mike7620Quality of the physical pen is great. The issue is finding refills that are extemely proprietary to LAMY. When Staples or Office Depot cant help you know there is a problem. Since these are made in Germany, it might me more available outside of the US.
InForOneI have the aluminum version of this pen and I use fisher space pen refills because I took a small drill bit and made the hole for the refill bigger.
Amazon price is the same with prime for the plain version and the flamed version is only $3 more on eBay. I thought this site was supposed to be about getting things cheaper than we otherwise could elsewhere? This is a bad joke! I would urge everyone interested to buy it elsewhere to send a message that we want actual discounts here.
petefreudAgreed.
But I'm not wasting time sending it back when I can buy one. I know it sucks.
And after that it's such a great pen.
I wish MassDrop would do a X thing and get these made out of brass or copper or some rare steel etc.
Has all the prior orders or drop received the correct pen at this time? I see several people who received a different pen that was not titanium. I dont wish to join the drop until I know the root cause of that issue was resolved and everyone made whole.
