The Cayins are very well constructed, and they just feel like quality in your hand. All around a very premium presentation and experience. The sound is just as good, delivering an enjoyable listening experience. The bass is a little lacking but that honestly is not even a problem and should not really matter to most. For though regular price though, it might be better to go with something different. Unless it's on a sale then I strongly recommend them.
Well built, great packaging, nice soundstage, comfortable during long sessions
Bass could be better, but might improve with a few more hours of “burn in”. Overall, enjoying the clarity and wider than normal soundstage through my various DAPs. Tried them on my home system (NAD integrated amp, Cal Audio CD) found the Cayin’s to be kind of harsh (overpowered?) , but more burn in may improve their performance. Time will tell. FP
IMHO they just don't seem like $500 IEMs. The quality is very good and the presentation is great but the sound doesn't live up to the rest (for my ears). I started by burning them in for 100 hours as I do all my IEMs and cans. Upon careful listening and trying the various tips included (a lot) the mids are clear and the highs are fairly good. The bass is tight but lacks the impact of other IEMs and doesn't go deep and low. Once again IMHO the BA drivers can't deliver the bass of a good dynamic driver or even good planer magnetics. My new 7HZ Timeless PMs sound smoother and have better bass and sound better rounded. My old Shuoer Tapes have better bass and highs but may be lacking in the mids by comparison (but are only $129). My FiiO FH5s units outshine them all in balance, detail, bass, mids, and highs etc.
Unboxing experience is quite nice, as is the case, and the build and sound follow suit. Fit is solid, and one of only a few IEMs I've had that I've not felt the need to tip roll to find a better fit/seal. They sit not quite flush, but close enough that they could be worn while laying down without too much issue. Sound is pretty linear through the low end and treble with a bit of emphasis through the mids. Detail is solid and overall signature is slightly warm due to the rich mids. Very enjoyable for the price.
Sound... definitely not for everyone's tastes and not all-rounders
Excellent for chamber/acoustic and "sparse" music in general, not so much for "dense" stuff
These are very enjoyable IEMs. Bass is clear and not emphasized; mids are warm and distinct; treble is bright without sibilance or shoutiness. Separation is excellent. The balanced tips give the best sound, for me. However, the foam and the bi-flange tips make a more comfortable fit in my ears, and the sound is still excellent. The vocal tips place the vocalist forward in the soundstage on the jazz tracks I listen to; very nice!
The Cayin YB04s are beautifully made, smooth and light weight. The cable also is very light and tangle free. The case is a big big to carry around but it does have room for the IEMs, two extra pairs of tips, an iPhone Lightning dongle, and the cloth and brush.
I listen mostly to orchestral, jazz, opera, vocal, various acoustic music, and some rock, and I find these outstanding.
