Vasili Arkhipov is famous as the senior officer who perhaps averted the outbreak of Nuclear conflict during the height of the Cold War. In honor of Arkhipov’s momentous decision, CCCP created this handsome 100-meter water-resistant automatic watch Read More
the watch looks fantastic, operates well and is easy to set. However the strap and crystal are questionable, two days after receiving the watch incidental bumping into a marble counter top caused a chip in the crystal it was still usable, it didn't shatter but still this has never happened on any other watch I have owned before. The strap itself while large and very adjustable, feels too soft and flimsy to be durable, I feel like if i bend it back too much it might snap/tear. luckily both are easy fixes, I can replace the crystal at any local repair shop pretty reliably and the strap is easy to replace with a custom leather one.
Appears to be a really quality timepiece. I purchased it for outdoor use, primarily hunting. I went on a backpack trip with it and it worked great. At night in near total darkness the dials luminesced well enough to read the time. I love it so far!!
Update. 6 months later, the watch didn't last as well as I had hoped. The leather band is showing a lot of wear. I think it's just poor quality leather. The crystal also hasn't held up and has chips inside in it from the outer ring catching on my sleeve when putting on my shirt. I assume from stress. Anyway I'm not nearly as happy with this watch as I was initially.
This is my second CCCP watch. The first surprised me and this one maintains the good impression. I left on a winder for over a week and it gained only 1 minute in time. I’m very pleased with the watch, it’s look, it’s accuracy and it value for the price. It’s well worth three or four times what I paid for it. The retail price is reasonable for this level of watch.
I wasn't expecting much from this watch in terms of build and finish quality, but was very pleased to see that it was much above higher priced watches.
I liked the "hommage" made to Vasili Arkhipov for this model and had been wanting a Russian timepiece for a while.
I remove 1 star because this is not what I would qualify as a 5 star product (the "triangle" at the top is not perfectly ligned up with the center of the watch, just like the white dot on the dial at 6 which is lightly shifted to the righ with respect to the "vertical bar", just as seen on the pictures of the product showcase), but the value for money makes it a good bargain.
I really don't regret my choice for this watch :)
