Product Description
The CCCP watch company began with a mission to engineer watches based on the storied timepieces created by the Soviet Union. Accurate in its aesthetic appeal, chosen materials, and engineering, the Sputnik-2 automatic watch is a faithful representation of many of the top watches used in Russia in the mid 20th century Read More

I'm not sure why everyone is so up in arms over the brand name... don't like it, don't buy it. Vostoks are Russian. 70% of the other watches out there are Chinese....I guess these same people are just going to buy Swiss made time pieces ( You know since Japan was an enemy in world war II and all).

Why not make the date circle a different color than the white "spider webs" that engulf the center of this monstrosity? It took me way too long to even figure out where the date was located!

Err, the acronym is CCCP (Союз Советских Социалистических Республик).
silphiumIt’s only an acronym if you can say it like nasa or radar. That’s why I inferred that Sputnik was the acronym Cccp sounds like a fake acronym like CIA or FBI that a lot of people think are acronyms but actually aren’t. But to be fair I don’t know how it’s pronounced in cyrillic

Judging from the comments, I’m obviously not the only one who has a problem with a watch brand that commemorates the Soviet Union. Maybe the brand wanted to celebrate cultural heritage of a group of people at a time when the Soviet Union existed, rather than the USSR itself, but in that case it is a poor choice of name brand to boldly display on one’s wrist.

Outdoors_guyIt's true. It's almost as bad as buying one of those products with the U.S. flag on it

Talk about a human-rights violation--I understand when prisoners were sent to the Gulag (the infamous labor camps of the former Soviet Union), in addition to the bad food and harsh Siberian weather, those prisoners selected for especially cruel punishment were actually forced to wear these beastly watches!
