This ad15 is my first cold steel. Great centering, solid build, and a really fun action and lock. Unbelievably secure grip with the super aggressive scale milling. Thing is a beast. Dig it
Edit: I sanded down and dyed the g10 scales, way too aggressive for me. Much easier to slip in and out of the pocket, shouldn't tear up my jeans now. Highly recommend this knife, and it still gets 5 stars because of Massdrops amazing price
Edit 2: Bought the AD10 as well and its just as good if not better. Great ergos and a nice beefy blade. If you don't care about the fidget factor I'd buy it over the AD15. Or buy both.

Thanks, it breaks down super easy. Just be careful not to lose the spring for the scorpion lock when taking apart the scales. And yeah 220 will work, I just sanded dry outside and rinsed off after

AD15 review: I am not a big Cold Steel guy, prefer Spyderco, ZT, Benchmade and Al Mar as I find CS to seem a bit less refined and brutish. Blades I own that I carry that compete for pocket time with the AD15 are the Al Mar ZDP Eagle, large Ritter Griptillion, and ZT Hinderer 0561 as well as some fixed blade knifes that I pocket carry. Have to say they the AD15 is probably the most satisfying of the bunch. It is big, bold and comes off as an absolute bruiser. It really doesn’t do anything better than any of the other knives I mentioned but seems to have the best balance of all charactertics. For instance, it isn’t as slim as the Eagle, or as slick to open as the the ZT, or as easy to close and slice as well as the Ritter, but feels stronger than all of them, is a decent slicer, has as good or better ratio of belly to edge, second best feel in my hands (I wear large gloves but have slender fingers) and the build quality and materials are as good as any of the others mentioned and probably better given the complexity of the design. At this price point it is IMO a very hard to knife to beat.

Some Find hard to flick blade out
Comes stiff and needs to be worked to break in
Requires a different hold to open (can’t put any pressure on the yoke or the blade simply won’t rotate and you will bruise your thumb).
Heavy (would have liked to have liners skeletonized to remove a couple ounces)

Love to knife. Ergonomics are awesome. The only thing that caught me off guard is that it’s a flat ground blade... not the hollow ground slicer I was looking for. Not sure when or why they changed this.

I remember reviewing this. Or, I think I remember reviewing this. Oh, well. I had meant to get the AD-15, but I trusted my iron clad mind and thot that this was that. I like this much more than my Mule (Ka-Bar) and several other "Is that a knife in your pocket or....? knives." Having just recently gotten a PM2, I am not sure that this is going to see a lot of pocket time. But if I am invited to an Assault the Hanging Side of Beef Party, this is going, not the PM2. Shoot, I might even take my Blue Sheep Dog knife. Or one of my fixed blades. (Don't take a broken one. You can never tell when a side of beef might get testy.) If your heart is set on a 2.5 oz. knife, then move along. This is heavy stuff.

Favorite heavy dury duty folder
