A new brand under Asia Optical, Crosszone was established in Japan in 2016. Its goal is to improve upon a large flaw frequently found in headphones called “center localization”: the tendency for the sound to seem as if it’s concentrated at the center of the head. With the CZ-1, Crosszone has certainly succeeded. By using Acoustic Resonance Technology and an acoustic delay chamber to create a natural, spatial sound, these headphones achieve external sound localization—so you’ll feel more like you’re listening to speakers. Each earpiece is equipped with three drivers, which give the housing its triangular shape: one 40-millimeter driver for bass and mids, one 23-millimeter tweeter, and a third driver that delivers sound through the acoustic delay chamber. The rigid die-cast magnesium headband retains its shape after long-term use, and the hinges use built-in torsion springs to reduce pressure and ensure comfortable listening.
