Just received my Dublin One-Piece yesterday and I’m very satisfied with the product. I’ve also ordered the Da Luca One-Piece Chromexcel in brown and also natural and this is my favorite of the three. The thickness is just right for my Speedy Pro and the leather is very supple.
Based on the Horween tannages chart the only difference between the two leathers is that Dublin has a waxy feel while Essex has a smooth feel (the only other type of feel is oily).
Otherwise, they are both full grain, vegetable tanned without chrome, fat liquored, vaccuum dried, hand glazed, aniline finished, without hot or wet stuffing, not waterproof or tumbled.

treeincThe leather has to be thin enough to fit through the gap between the case and the bar. Smaller watches have smaller tolerances vs larger watches. We do our best to use the thicker hides for the wider straps and thinner hides for the smaller watches. The keychains vary so it’s hard to say what you specifically received vs what we are using for this drop. Generally this style strap can’t utilize leather that is much thicker than 2mm, otherwise the fit becomes very difficult.
Another interesting point is that we will get customers giving us feedback from using the same thickness of leather and how one person might say it’s too thick for their taste, while the other says it’s too thin. We genuinely do our best to use feedback and knowledge from the past 9 years of being in business to bridge this gap and try to make everybody happy with the thickness. We hope this helps.
Mac11Yes, we back the manufacturing of each strap for its lifetime.
The leather will need normal treatment over time, as with any leather, but beyond that there is not much to go wrong with these. They are made to be as simple as possible so there is less to go wrong.
DA-LUCAThank you for the quick response.
I think its awesome that the manufacture, in this case DA-LUCA is responding to people's questions and concerns. You hardly see that anymore. Most are just focused on money. These guys actually seem to care about their products, and further more their customer's experience.
Awesome guys, keep it up!
The good. Looks great, feels great. The bad. I think the hardware (buckle tongue) on the clasp is too short. See pictures. The leather is so soft that is slides up over the tongue. Hasn't worked it's way all the way off yet, but I fear it will stretch out the holes in the band or even tear the leather.
Just be advised of this issue and watch your own straps..
