Product Description
With a softly curved design inspired by nature, the Yulong DAART Canary DAC/amp packs a lot of features into a compact package. It has an especially powerful Class-A design and can output 1,000 mW at 32 ohms: enough to drive demanding headphones with ease Read More
I am using it for the past 1 year or so, I bought straight from their AliExpress store. The sound is very musical: extended sub-bass, mids are really transparent and the treble has good extension without being too picky about well-recorded tracks.
The only issues are: 6.3mm output (so you'll have to use an adapter with most headphones), the power switch is in the back (not a big deal for me, I never turn it off) and the output impedance is high @10 Ohm so sensitive IEMs will need am impedance adapter.
verifonixThanks! I actually ended up selling mine and am on an SU-8, Jotunheim setup now. Should have the THX 789 by the end of the month. You’ll likely see a black Jotunheim on eBay soon hah.
I own this one, and have to say it is not that impressing. Sure, the power is plenty, and it can push almost anything. But it has a ridiculously high 10Ohm of output impedance, which technically makes it completely unsuitable for multi-driver, low-impedance IEMs.
iFi DACs perform very poorly "for the price".
Check out measurements on Audio Science Review, they are poorly ranked but still perform better than Schiit or Audio-GD DACs
Get Topping DACs instead. .very great performance and value (measured on Audio Science Review)
artnoithank you , i will check their sites out :)
haven't heard anything bad at all all this times about them , and for the price what's build in / it looked rly great
(maybe the top units are bad price to perf ratio ?)
i will check it out and look closer, by specs and used hardware - they rly shouldn't be bad at all
maybe they perform just bad or there are bad QC units hmmm
Looks very promising. I think I'm in. I wonder though, given that these are shipped direct from China:
• What warranty recourse do we have in the US? Is there a US contact for repair or replacement? (or do we have to return ship to China?!)
• What is the US warranty?
• What is the likelihood of this being assembled with counterfeit parts? (I suppose this is a concern with any manufacturer these days foreign or domestic - i.e., is that a genuine ESS chipset?)
• Given the price point and performance (based on the reviews so far) is this the bang/buck go-to vs sticking with a domestic player - e.g., Schiit Stack (US made, US warranty, etc)
Or for $179 does one just roll the dice and if it bricks just toss it out and move on?
akasrpI bought a SMSL M3 from Massdrop that came with only Massdrop's 30 day warranty. About 4 months later it's stopped working. I contacted support and I'm S.O.L. It's basically a paperweight now. It's buyer beware with any product on here without a manufacturer's warranty.

This one says neutral ('clean') with somewhat pronounced highs, while the other says dark and 'musical'. But they all say it's really good. The Cons, such as they, are seem to be minor and mechanical - volume imbalance at low settings and on/off in back.
