For flexible, audiophile-grade sound on the go, ddHiFi’s TC44B DAC/amp is hard to beat. Scarcely bigger than a smartphone dongle, this versatile listening solution features a high-quality amplification circuit and two DACs to deliver high-fidelity audio, plus enough power to drive high-impedance headphones Read More
I messed up and must have added this to my cart and when I ordered some keyboard stuff paid for this too.
I am not too annoyed but... What is 4.4mm? My headphones are either 3.5 or 6.3... What do I do with this thing? 2.5mm is such an annoying connector size and 4.4mm I have never even heard of. I am just screwed?
ZibobSo I received the ddHiFi 4.4mm to 3.5mm unbalanced adapter, connected it to the TC44B, and it works great with my Klipsch x11i earbuds, so far.
I note: when I use the TC44B with the adapter to playback lower quality streams, it stays room temp, but when I use it to playback FLAC and higher quality streams, it warms up a bit. I would not describe it as TOO warm, but it warms to the touch.
So far so good with the adapter, though.
Since the E1DA 9038S exists this and pretty much every other dongle type dac/amp products are dead in the water. At least this one has an interesting functionality to it with the combo 4.4/2.5mm which may give a few people pause, but not really...
VicturtleIt’s not me saying anything - it’s pretty much industry consensus. The TC44B is a DAC/amp dongle. In that space, there’s the 9038S and there’s everyone else. The 9038S is “better” because on the DAC side it’s one of the cleanest measuring DACs around, not just among dongles, but among any DAC out there. It outperforms the TC44B in every way across all measurable metrics. As for the amp section, the 9038S has 3x the power. None of this is opinion, it’s measurable fact. Go research this yourself if you don’t believe me. And the dual mono DAC thing - you can put fancy sports wheels on a Camry, but it’s still a Camry. The 9038S is a Porsche and it doesn’t need fancy wheels to blow away a Camry on the road. Just sayin’.
Yep, same here. It's why I bought the 10 and a year later bought the 20. Going on ~five years with the 20. Want the 50, but whatever, I see these things come up all the time and try to take as close a look at them as the usually-woefully-lacking spec sheets here on Drop will allow, and by the time I've found mo' betta' information, I've also found mo' betta' hardware that I simply have to try. Trying them is almost always a let-down though, because the V20 sounds great almost no matter what I'm pushing it through, speakers, headphones, earbuds - whatever have you. I usually just click on drops like this one out of idle curiosity anymore. Doubt I'll ever buy another one unless I just get a hankerin' to take something new out for a test drive.
so Drop hasn't even shipped out the last drop of this DAC/AMP.. and that was way back on Dec 19th... thats 2 months ago.... come on now... why? why? do I buy on Drop... why?
If this has the sound quality of (and is smaller than) FiiO BTR5, I would eventually consider it. The price difference between both is very small though, not sure if it's worth it over the BTR5?
OyukiI own the iBasso DC04 and the sleeve of its 4.4mm-TRRRS connector is grounded; i.e. connected to the ground/shield of its USB-C input. The DC04 does not only sound very good with headphones (and it has a more powerful output on paper than the TC44B ), but it is also suitable as DAC for balanced external amping (in my case as balanced input to the ifi ZenCAN) or active speakers this way. This is not the case for some other DAC-Amps with 4.4mm outputs which use only 4 of the 5 pentaconn connections (e.g. the Lotoo Paw S1 or the Fiio Q5s). Nevertheless, all ddHifi adapters and cables I bought up to now were perfectly built, well designed and I am tempted to try this one as well.
